The seller claims it's the first "De-luxe" Pie Pan... I have asked about the caseback and he said it is a plastic protecter seal which makes it looked marked?! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151024134462?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Does anybody have any early references to compare to?
AFAIK. 2699 is the first Piepan design produced and they are in De Luxe version only, that means the dials were in gold with mirror finish . Here are some pics from a 2699 that I currently own
The case looks ok but the dial is not. Normally, the dial of 2652 comes with a crosshair with dots at 1,2,4,5,7,8,10,11 o'clock markers. The movement looks bad, too. There are signs of deterioration and the rotor is touching the caseback.
Yes, Hoi is quite correct. Putting it more directly, the dial is refinished on this watch. The whole watch is an inferior piece.
Yes, to be fair to the seller he just told me it could be refinshed. I was just curious as I really don't know very much about these.
Hoi, the arrowhead markers and the omega symbol and star look slightly misaligned to the marks on the dial
Thanks Reiner, I agree! But if I was in the money for one of these, it would have to be the De luxe and in 18k!
Hi Al, I have both versions, but the SS version I like most. What do you think of my knurled bezel 168.029 in WURW Today?
I like it! I have similar but it is being cleansed and serviced! This is before I sent it away...lume is original.
Have one identical which my dad bought around 1956, probably in México City. Haven't open the case to double check the 2699 model. It has a gold wrist band, which I believe is 18 Karat. (Wonder how much it is worth.)
