hi, i have found this omega watch, with a tropical dial.
the dial looks original to me, but i think the question here is whether the dial is attractive or not - and i really can't figure it out, so some second opinions much appreciated.
the crown should be original and the watch is serviced.
the price is 470 euro.

i know pictures are not top quality but i have already asked for more, but you might be able to see something on these ones.

thanks for the help

I don’t think it is attractive, too far gone especially as the gold hands and indices are not offering enough contrast. Steel would have been better. The case looks good though.

I dont mind the patina at all. The steel case looks to be in really good shape. Would need better pictures to assess condition further but 450 doesn't seem to be that far off.

I generally like patina, and I love those models. But that’s just a little too much patina for me personally.

There are a couple of dials on eBay for that watch....
that actually might be an option, but i can't find the dials on eBay, would you be able to provide a link?

I actually like the patina, it is something you don't see everyday!

thanks a lot, do you think it would be worth purchasing the best dial?
Worth is an individual thing. If it would entice you to buy the watch and pay for the dial, then perhaps yes. But only you know.

Love these older watches, but always somewhat nervously. 😉

i can for sure see your point.
any idea how much it would cost to have a watchmaker insert a new dial?

He'll do it free, because that watch has to be serviced anyways.

Well it's not my preference, but if you like this look go for it! Price seems fair

It is a bit too uneven for me, but it is original... It is a personal choice at the end of the day. If part of the question is to also evaluate the potential resale attractiveness later on if you want to move on from it, your target audience will indeed be niche.

So, if you like it, go for it... though, I find at such level of patina, it has to be a coup de coeur, which you don't seem to have as you're questioning yourself 😀

Too bad it doesn’t look more like this one of mine. This is an original dial, never having been refinished. It looks like this because it is on a watch that had been retired close to 50 years ago, and was stored in a steel lozenge tin, in a dark drawer.
