have you looked at the guaranty card w/ a UV light ? will show a hologram

otherwise look spectacular and you'll love wearing this

Thanks a lot for the info.. Do you mean that the guaranty card under UV will show an hologram? I was not aware of this, I could ask the seller but I dont know if he has a UV light available..

Nope, i am located in Switzerland..

I assume you're taking taxes and duties into account in the price, then. My understanding is that they can be significant.

Do you have any rough estimate or feeling on the range of that? I was estimating somewhere in the range of 10% but I am totally inexperienced on that topic.
What is your opinion on the watch itself Dan?

I don't live in Europe, I just know that European buyers are often reluctant to buy watches from the US because they say that taxes kill the deal (VAT?). 10% could be correct.

The photos don't really show the condition of the watch very well, but I don't see any issues. I'm mainly focused on vintage watches, and I don't pay much attention to the modern pre-owned market, but I basically look at them as mass-produced commodities. There won't be much difference from one to the other as long as they are legit. So if you trust the seller, you should be ok.

It looks a nice example, bracelet still nice and tight. If you can stomach the fees on top of the price go for it. I’ve always baulked being in the U.K. as it’s 20% on top

20% on top of the price? That's crazy! Is this the case also if your buying via forums like this one?

Looks to be a good watch but the price with the potential duties and taxes make it above market price

Yep - you pay the rate of vat....
Within eu no vat added

which is why I tend to ignore sales posts from the states and focus on U.K./Europe

I see..but I think that I will have the same issue no matter from where I order since Switzerland is out of EU right?

I couldn’t tell you what your percentage would be in Switzerland buying from us. 20% is U.K. vat rate so applies on purchases outside of EU for us. You should be able to check on your customs website for your t&c’s

I think it might be 7.7% for you plus fees - but I’m not an expert and you should check before purchase.

I know it’s for your special occasion.

However if you’re going to get a new one, get a new one. Especially with that price tag.

Have you considered a birth year watch?
Maybe a set with box/papers?

just my opinion.

Having a birth year watch was my very first thought. After thorough search in Chrono24 for some examples with B&P I saw that non of those is the ND version and the vast majority of them are in the range of 9k$+, that's why afterwards my next thought was to buy new 114060. My only concern is the supercase (which still cannot try on any of the ADs) for my 6.75'' wrist and that's why I am in parallel searching for a very good example of 14060m with B&P.

Are you looking for the M model only?

Yes, I am focusing on M models with a special focus on the ones with the rehaut engraving, I find them extremely appealing.

Makes sense - And the upgraded movement is a nice bonus

I have several thoughts.

First, I've had both. I prefer the bracelet and clasp and shiny bezel of the newer model, but I prefer the case and size of the older model. Right now I have neither. I was recently shopping for a 14060M and decided that they are just too expensive. I also found a nice NOS but it was $12 or $13K US and that's ridiculous, because the moment I put it on, it's lost nearly half its value.

I have a small wrist (around 6.25") and the new "maxi" case is just too big for me. Funny that the larger (42mm) Omega actually feels smaller.

Part of the reason I hate to spend 6,7 or even 8K on a 14060M is when I sold mine, several years ago, I think it was worth less than 5K. I hate to go backwards and pay more. I think the numbers are ridiculous, and I don't really understand why they are so expensive. They made millions of them...

You really need to find one of each version and try it on. How, is the hard part, especially since so many stores are still closed. I don't know how things are in Switzerland, but surely at some point the big cities will open and you should be able to find pre-owned models in stores. Of course, I don't know where you are, if traveling to somewhere like Geneva for a shopping day is feasible. For the kind of money that you are contemplating, you should take your time and certainly try some on. Don't worry, there will still be plenty available next month.

Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts @mjb. I totally agree with the pricing but I am not sure if there is going to be any drop anytime soon (potentially with the release of the new models if they get rid of the super case and get back to the more vintage look). Shops are open here in Zurich but in the pre-owned ones I am still not able to find one of the 114060 examples. I have tried the 14060m which I can say was almost perfect for my wrist but still lacking the option to compare with the new one..

Maybe I am wrong but I think that the case for the ceramic no date Sub is the same as the date one. If this is right you could try to see a ceramic Sub with the date and see how it feels.
