I had this posted in the other watxh brands forum, but didn't get any responses. I figured I'd post here to see if there were any thoughts.

I wanted to show off my latest local pick up, and see what thoughts are on originality. I think I got lucky and got a correct original dial, venus 170 movement, and case. It seems like good ref. 178s are kind of hard to come by. From my cursory research the serial would put this watch in the early 40's, prior to when they started marking the bridge.

The dial is really difficult to photograph, but was easier without the crystal/bezel. I don't know what the font for the numbers is, but on close inspection it's interesting.

I'm still undecided on strap/bracelet. The heavy mesh Kreisler that came on it just doesn't do anything for me. The JB NASA mesh seems to contemporary. I like the leather, and I've got a nice 18mm black leather racing strap coming that I think I'll be happy with.
