Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying an Omega Genève 161.009, but I want to confirm its authenticity first. The dial design looks unfamiliar to me, which makes me a bit unsure, even though it comes with the full papers and box.

Also, do you think it’s worth picking up this watch for $720? Would love to hear your insights and advice. Thanks so much!

Hello. I don’t own this reference… but compared to the other two watches you showed this week, this one looks really… meh. Once again, the picture are low quality, so try to ensure you get better pictures… they are either blurry or low resolution.

My gut feel is the hands are not correct, the dial looks reprinted (and if not… kind of boring). Not sure about the crown either. The condition isn’t great overall. At this price tag, I would pass without much hesitation.

This is about as entry level as Omega watches came at the time. It looks like it’s either 32 or 33mm which make it wear significantly smaller than the standard 34mm Seamasters/Geneves from the period.
Don’t let the papers sway you. They can’t be worn and should only be the icing on top of a nice watch. This watch is small, very basic and there’s much, much more interesting and attractive watches out there for $720
