I think a lot of these places have developed a protocol about receiving jewelry and how they really are supposed to list it as an online auction.

 

shopgoodwill.com is a total joke! Filled with shill bidders. Take a look at the actual bid history...I almost bid $166,000, ha! They are infamous for this, an 80's quartz diver had a high bid of $15k a few months ago.

 

Could be. It also could be that a collector wanted this at any cost. I agree that they have little accountability for bidding like this. Still wondering if we'll see this watch again...

 

Wow that one really looks brand new

 

It looks very good.

 

Should have lost it but had a distraction just as I inputed my bid, and had one extra "5" as time was running out.

After seeing it, in and out, very glad too have won this pristine example.

The internal bevels at each lug are still intact and mirrored like the outer bevels on the lugs. Have not witnessed this before on a A386 but have on a scant few other watches over the years. The lug points could draw blood.
Pictures do not unveil the mesmerizing depth these subdials present in person with just a touch of sunlight. Especially the blue.

A few pictures for now, my watchmaker has to do the honors and then a new thread will be started with many more.

On arrival with just a gentle removal of fingerprints.









I took it off the leather strap after pictures. Any ideas for a strap to preserve the internal bevels?

I'm thinking suede. I will wear it occasionally.

Wow. that's very nice. I don't know if it will be the best option for your internal bevels, but I would always wear it on a ladder bracelet. It doesn't get any better.......

Was very tempted, but, as usual from this auction house, no movement shots + the bad sub dial kept me away (what seems to be a touch up of the black paint on the minute hand annoyed me a bit too, as what else might have been done to prep it for sale.....). Probably just me being paranoid

Anyway, congrats to the buyer.

 

The blue subdial would have put me off too, plus the repainted hands aren't promising of what lies beneath
