This or that?

If it was down to just these two, I'd go with the Seamaster... can't say for your wife, but I know with mine the Constellation bracelet would be a deal breaker. You mention your wife is more casual - would the hour markers bother her at all? Would they seem too "blingly" to her on either one?

Under normal circumstances I would say yes, it may be a little blingy, but this is a special gift sOoO...

In all seriousness, the Constellation is such a beautiful watch... but only you know your wife best.

Probably going with the Constellation. Either way, I'm going to buy one of these tomorrow and will post pictures.

And if I presented her with a quartz Connie she would throw it across the room- well, not that dramatic, but mechanical all the way for her

My wife is lazy and is all about not having to wind a thing, hence the quartz movement 馃え馃う

They have the Connie as an automatic version, but if she puts it down for extended amount of time (eg, long weekend), then quartz is surely easier for her.

Ah, ok, just thought I'd ask in case it was a variable you hadn't yet considered. Seems like you're considering all angles though and I'm sure she'll be very happy. Looking forward to the pictures - a new purchase is always exciting and since it's a special gift, even more so.

I showed this to my wife and she said she likes the constellation better out of the two. I bought her a Deville for christmas. Showing her this was a mistake. Now she wants the Connie for her B-day .

A purchase will happen tomorrow definitely. No harm in giving folks something to talk about though and seeking other opinions.

Can we see a picture?
I've taken one but it鈥檚 lousy. I鈥檒l try again.

ETA:
Another crappy photo but it shows the texture and blue of the abalone. Its a TAG Aquaracer 300m. How TAG fit a tiny date watch into a 300m case I'll never know, but she wouldn't be able to read it in 3m let alone 300m. I'll try to get a better shot tomorrow.

Now this is a constellation!

Meh. I know, TAG and all, but my Calibre 36 (Zenith El Primero movement) and this little aquaracer watch have defied all logic. We love them. The Aquaracer is her daily, and my TAG was a daily for 15 years. That was better than the three Breitlings that came before it, after all three failed and were warrantied. After the third failed the jeweler said pick out another at same price, and I said, "Never another Breitling." 馃榾

Answer: Winder

I thought an auto would be a show stopper for my wife until I bought her a Lady Datejust. The AD threw in a winder and it solved the dilemma.

I'm going with a quartz movement for her. She unfortunately doesn't appreciate the tactial experience of winding a watch. Maybe someday.
