Now that we know a little more about what is attracting the OP to each of these watches it makes it easier to narrow down the selection process.

I have the Apollo 11 50th and also a specially modified new Speedmaster with the Apollo 11 35th dial which is similar to the one in your pic except it has the date of the moon landing in red.. It's on a Silver Snoopy strap (black Cordura with white stitching).

The Apollo 11 is a wonderful watch, the fetish on the 9 o'clock sub-dial is way overblown, but that's just a personal decision. It's sporty enough but the gold does make it a little dressier than an all steel piece, but still wearable in all situations. The bracelet is top drawer, a lot different than a Rolex bracelet, more jewelry like in comparison.

The Speedmaster panda dial is beautiful, an opaline finish with the black sub dials makes it striking piece. Omega didn't make that many models with a true panda dial (Mitsukoshi, Apollo 11 35th, and Tokyo 2020) so it is not as often seen, it's more Rolex-like than the Omega Apollo 11 dial. I have it on the Silver Snoopy strap and it is just about the perfect wearing Speedmaster, imo.

Either one is a worthy contender to add to your stable. For me I probably enjoy the panda dial for day to day wear.

Between the two, I'd pick the Apollo 11 50th. If I really wanted a panda, I'd look for a clean Apollo 11 35th.

Yeegads, as they say in the comics! Pretty nice also rans and unmentionables. You should be telling us what to get instead of asking for opinions. Very nice taste.

Haha, thanks for the kind words. 😀

Beautiful - you're lucky to have both!

I might stop by DavidSW today and actually see the 50th in person...it's nearly a 1.5 hour drive for me, but sacrifices must be made. 😁

Take both that would be easier...

A nice anniversary one celebrating the 50th anniversary
And
A nice panda for Tokyo 2020.
Regarding the panda i would prefer by far the 35th anniversary but of course not for the same budget.

Good luck and let us know your final choice !

I say go with the one that times to one fifth of a second. It's supposed to be a stopwatch and less than that is useless. Isn't that Apollo 11 the one with the revised (incorrect) Neil Armstrong quote? If it is and you don't like historical revision, that one's out.

Tried this guy on today and it will be coming home with me shortly!

A sexy watch that's even better in person. Wire goes through tomorrow and she's mine. Will post a proper incoming when its in hand.

I recently purchased the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Speedmaster. Before I did, that same day, I tried on the Rolex Daytona. I was very disappointed with the Daytona and its ghosty white face. The dealer also had about a dozen Daytonas and there was of course only one Olympic Speedmaster Panda. The Omega was so much nicer than the Rolex and far far more rare.

The Tokyo is more sporty and the Apollo more elegant imho!

Here's a better shot of what the Tokyo actually looks like in real life/real light and a direct comparison to the classic Newman style Rolex Daytona. (The hour marks on the Omega are actually very similar to the Rolex in terms of light and brightness just not in this photo.)

I'm a little late to this party, but obviously my vote goes to the Apollo 11 50th. It's the pinnacle of my collection, and I hate to part with it, but I will likely be putting it up for sale shortly. Sigh...

Purely on design, the Apollo 11 50th is very cool, but I think it lacks the visual pop of a panda, particularly from a distance. That said, I would not mind having one in my collection 😀 Why sell?

I just got my Tokyo Panda last week and I am stunned by the dial - completely scratched my Daytona itch 😉
Not too happy with the bracelet ... but coming from a glidelock clasp, it is tough to find something equal

Retired on a "fixed" income. Inflation is killing us. House maintenance items like water heater, water softener, HVAC, all cost at least triple what they were. Driving a 22 year old car that is on its last legs. This is not the time to buy a car--but what are you going to do?
