I saw the watch on IG and was a bit shocked at a few things other than the price. http://www.superlativetime.com/product/omega-automatic-seamaster-300-ref-165-024-1960 First, how can dial be considered "excellent" when it appears to have discoloration or staining on the letters? Although the original, albeit a beat one, is included, a service bezel for £6k...really? Has the market gotten this hot to where an example that is far from collector grade warrants a price like this? Did I miss a Hodonkey article where someone found a picture of Nina Rindt's cousin Esther wearing a 300?
And wrong bracelet to boot! Although I'd be happy if prices were heading that way Big Triangle with 1506 bracelet #16 end links but I don't see myself letting this one out of my sight!
The same way as one I saw recently " absolutely in perfect condition" then 4 or 5 lines later "watch does not run and will need work" since when is non running considered "perfect".
I think the market today has a lot of "hey, let's give this price a try!" sellers. The worst thing for the seller is that they might have to lower the price if it doesn't sell. Asking price isn't always the selling price. Descriptions are also more and more vivid. As there is no "rule book" they can always say "hey, at least I wasnt pushing it as perfect!"(speaking about the" excellent dial" in te first post).
If it were perfect and correct, I think that the asking price would be just a little high, but to have so many issues and claims to be in "excellent condition", I just find it amusing and somewhat disconcerting.
Pricing is even more amusing since one sold for 3k at Watches of Knightsbridge, and most were passed.
Crazy price .... Besides the condition issues, the movement serial doesn't belong to this reference ... At all. Serial 17x ...
And what is everyone's view on the market price range (non-dealer) for a decent and correct BT SM 300? Haven't seen too many of late and feel out of that loop. Thanks all.
They had a 105.002 last year listed at £19,500, now sold, but don't know for how much.. http://www.superlativetime.com/product/omega-speedmaster-ref-105-002-1962

'“There is also a possibility of a full original, but it does not necessarily be guaranteed.”' And why did I even bother to add onto my bay watch list?
