This damn dial has me stumped.

So a while ago I dismantled a 105.012 as there was an issue with the dial - this dial to be exact.

There is nothing close to it no matter how much you search, look at pics etc.

On the reverse it says Singer and has 1502 scribed in to it. On the front, well I will leave you guys to look and make your own mind up. Hint - look at the crossed 't'...

It also has concentric circles in the subs, Applied logo etc.

The tick marks between the 10 and 11 minute markers look sloppy. Like enough to maybe give away the whole dial? I assume there are other potential issues but that is what struck me immediately.

Mir doesn’t help that the pics were from a phone.

The whole dial under a loupe doesn’t look like it’s been entirely redone though. There is a slight mark that runs through those few markers making it look ‘off. You can only see the mark under a loupe.

The lume may be a recent re do as well.

I have seen other dials with lume this colour.

Looking at the plots with a loupe and a UV torch there is no visible trace the loom has been scraped off and re-applied

It has the concentric circles, they are there, just just don’t show in the pic.

Looks like a total redial to me. The shape of the script seems right at first glance, but the entire dial is sans serif.

The subdial markings look fairly rough when I zoom in on the photo, particularly on the 3 o'clock subdial. 'Professional' seems a bit rougher than normal as well.

I will caveat this by saying i have looked at very few vintage speedmaster dials, so it's possible this is not uncommon. But the markings/ text on my '67 is not as rough.

What happens to dials that don't pass QA upon receipt? Could this be one?

They toss them or use their time machines to hand them as NOS to dealers who get banned by OF.

I agree with this looking at the zoom of the subdials. On the subdial at 6 the 6 and the 12 look to be touching the dashes which isn't correct.
