I don't know what my local auction house is doing lately but, damn, they seem to be pulling the stops out with watches. Images below. I've only looked at them on my phone but I'm going for a proper look in the morning. I might have to see how much money I can move and how quickly .. Or I could have another glass of wine and calm down. It does seem quite nice ... Thoughts or points that you think need a closer inspection ...?
Probably because the lume is super green, but this could be due to very little exposure over time. The watch looks like it might have spent several decades in the box.
I can pretty much promise the photography is at least partly at fault too. They have a rudimentary white box and only bought a decent camera at Christmas.
Looks canary yellow to me. Can shave with those edges. Mint don. I think that’s gonna be an absolute cracker in the flesh. You might need at least two more glasses of wine to try calm down. And good luck sleeping tonight. Would trade in a few body parts fast for a shot at that... Edit : would naturally trade in all my pet squirrels too
You'll need a box of cash to cover the hammer price and buyer's premium. That's a watch that the deep pocket collectors will be after.
Just to add a little levity, the estimate is £1200-1800. For a laugh, I once asked them to value my 2998 ... they said £1000-1500.
Don't want to appear being a smartshit, but I'd say it will take you 10x the estimate or 20x the glasses of wine..or both! good luck!
Whoa - a non-snarky reply on a post involving a Speedmaster? WHO ARE YOU?!?! WHAT DID YOU DO WITH DENNIS?!
Any watch collector respects the condition of a mint vintage blue chip piece. I'll completely understand that selling for crazy $$$. What I don't get is the Speedmaster that has flaky lume, ratty hands, and a bezel that looks like it was shot with an automatic BB gun selling for big bucks. That won't even cover the bezel.
Mmmmm ......Nottingham ? Sub dial hands are not consistent, & I suspect the 'blue background' is tonally affecting / 'fooling' the cameras software, and visually distorting the colour of the lume Nevertheless ......This will 'Hammer' out at £15k +
It appears the bracelet on the 6 o'clock side might have some fixed links missing. Would love to see some photos of the dial in different lighting conditions if the OP has a chance to see the actual watch, takes some photos and cares to share them here
