Hello Omega Forums!

I often look for bargains at my local auction. I saw this watch and expected a hammer fall around 800-1000. It went for 2800. This makes me think Ive missed something important, and I'd like to learn more. Calibre number is
30T2 Sc Rg.

Anyone got some wisdom to share on this?

30t2rg's are one of Omega's legendary movements, and these chronometre's are hard to find untouched and in original condition. They are special watches.

Hi, I would suggest you do a Google search with the words “30T2RG” and chronometer. That is pretty basic stuff. I don’t know anything about Omega and I know that.

Or you do a thread search on the forum for previous threads on the subject. I’m sure that question must have been answered a number of times.

To answer my own question, and to pull from helpful replies, it would seem this movement was one of the first to be submitted for a chronometer certificate, out performed even some of the most sophisticated movements and bagged Omega loads of awards. Some say it was also one of the first copper plated movements, but details are sketchy. Great talking with you all, and I'm sorry if some if you felt terribly offended in me asking basic questions. I will stick to the shadows until I can claim WIS levels! Cheers all.

I know this opinion may not be popular but the watch may be historic but not pretty IMO...

 

No offense taken and no need to stick to the shadows but it’s always good to try and search for info. That’s a good way of learning tons of stuff.

 

To each their own. I'm much more into modern watches, but I am enjoying my early steps into vintage. Very fascinating. As for this watch, I think the dial appeals in its simplicity, I think the beauty in the movement comes from its history, which I'm just digging into now.

Absolutely! My initial Google search before posting threw up nothing but for sale articles, so I gave up very early and came here. Patience is a virtue I suppose!
