Have a 861 movement that i got from a Speedmaster Mark II .The case is broken . I am trying to repair it . But don't now if it will work .
So i have my eyes open for an other usable case to put it in . While looking on Ofrei i found a 145.020 case with everything except dial and hands .
It will be a franken watch but think it will be better than selling and losing a nice movement and watch . What dials can i find for this case .Something like this would be nice .

I assume a Seamaster 321 dial will not fit an 861 (as with Speedmasters). True?

You will need to sand the dial feet to make it fit.

My fault . That Seamaster in the picture has a 321 movement . I was only looking at Ofrei and they have a 145.020 case for 861 movement .Than search for it on the net . This picture came up . I think i shall be looking for a nice speedmaster case instead . From -75 like the movement i have .

Note that the pusher extensions are different for different cases. So you can't take a mark ii movement and just drop it into a professional case for instance, without changing some parts. Look it up in the service manual for the movement.

That i have learned . Tried to do the other way around . You need to change the extensions and the pusher stem for zero action . I need to change them anyway becuse they look a little worn . The movement needs a service too . Don't now which is the best ? Sell the movement and buy a better watch or service the movement and find a nicer case ? Or find a new mark II case ?

If you are also considering the Speedy way, take a look at cousinsuk. They have case and dial for both, the 861 and the 321 movements.

I think it should come with the case, but in case it doesn´t, it´s also available to buy separate.

You'll need to get the movement ring as they don't come with the cases. Also, I'll have some refinished and restored MKII cases ready shortly if you decide to go that way

The one thing you will need to salvage from the old case is the inner bezel. They don't make them any more.

I am totally in for building a speedmaster 145.0012 . Going to sell a few things around here the next couple of weeks . Did check the movements serialnumber and it looks like it's from 1970-1971 with a number starting with 323......... Would that be fine to build a 145.0012 speedmaster from ? Already have a newer speedmaster so a 145.0022 wont be as fun. These will be some kind of replica and not a watch a old speedmaster . The parts will be new service parts from Cousinsuk or Ebay .

Nice that is a real mix of parts . Is that a 145.0012 case or 145.0022 ? Broad arrow hands is nice . The dial is ?

Its actually an old 145.022 case and 861 movement. All the hands, dial, and bezel are from the 3594.50 model, glass is designed for the 2998 / 105.002 with the steel inner ring. In that picture the chrono hand is white but its now replaced with a silver one.

I believe the new service cases for 145.0012 and 145.0022 are identical as far as I can tell. I think its just the internal part of the pushers which might be different. Its a bit of fun to create something different :)

Edit: Case back are different design but the main case is the same

Good to know. I thought the only difference was the case back.
Do you mean screw in vs press in pushers?

I really have no idea. It's just one of those parts that are worth hanging onto in case somebody ever needs one. Let's just say that it wouldn't be enough to fund your retirement.
