is the difference in patina between dial and hand something to worry about?

I think it is a “Franken sun dial” the gnomon and dial are definitely from 2 different sundials. Maybe even 2 different manufacturers. 👎

This one's Fabrique de Paris but all other inscriptions are in Deutsch or possibly Nederlands.

In fact I'm getting quite intrigued by this. I have a due south facing wall to the house, but it's right on the boundary so my neighbours would benefit but not me.

Now, if I put it on a south facing wall inside and rig up a RasPi controlled moving light source ......

...... yes, strip of LEDs switched individually by time of day. I could even have a sundial that doesn't need correction for the Equation of Time 😎
