HELLO EVERYONE !~

Just FYI . This is still a work in progress.....
The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversation.. Having collectors either email me a photo of their watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about it in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exists ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 3:00 pm DST Sunday ....

My first tuning fork on the way. Would love opinions on condition, accuracy, quirks, tips and tricks re setting, etc. Easy to replace battery when needed? Best way to conserve power? Thanks!

Recently acquired a Seiko addiction. Found some good sources. I’ve been collecting generally more “high-end” brands for 25 years or so, but I’m actually intrigued and getting more enjoyment out of the variety one can find in the Seiko line. Admittedly, I’ve gone a bit Seiko-crazy as of late. Any other Seiko-holics wish to share their stories?

I own a number of Omega tuning fork models. Pulling the crown out all the way disconnects the battery and preserves it. Battery replacement takes a screwdriver and can be a bit tricky in that you pretty much have to fully unscrew the clip to get to the battery. And you have to be careful not to slip and damage the coils. The date change mechanism is also sensitive and you have to be careful not change the date at the wrong time or you will break a tab of the date wheel or damage the setting wheel. The same movement was used by many other manufacturers so donor parts are available. The coil with the transistor fails more often than the other coil and is more expensive on eBay. Chris Radek, timeguy.com in Albuquerque has serviced some of mine and he can also rewind the coils.
