hi everyone Just a FYI . this is still a work in progress..... The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversations.. having collectors either email me photo of there watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exist ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 4 pm EDT Sunday .... Remember the Clubhouse room is only as good as the collectors that join in.... please post a watch you want to chat about. Be Safe Good Hunting Bill Sohne
Hi Question for the group today … how many of you collect paper on vintage timepieces ? Saw a cool Chelsea brochure from the late 1920s
Hi again and a few Omega ads my favorite Omega Marine ad .. have to have a Seamaster ad classic beefy bezel and thick lugs plus look closely it’s a chronometre! And this one what I like it’s early “jet” age !!!
I thought I would close the loop on this clock we discussed last month. Thanks to Bill's suggestion, I was able to get a certificate from Chelsea confirming that this clock with matching serial numbers on case and movement is an authentic WWI Navy airplane clock. Based on the info in the certificate, it may have been installed in a De Havilland DH-4.
A follow on to last weeks Ming post. Here’s my 17.03 GMT that I got in late 2018. It has a Selita movement and was not that expensive. A couple of Ming Thein design characteristics is no second hand, rather than “12” there’s a “0” and the lugs are drilled for both straight and curved spring bars.
Nice little budget piece, a 1962 Eterna-matic I picked up on a Japanese auction site. Looks like it has never been touched, including the original signed crystal.
