hi everyone

Just a FYI . this is still a work in progress..... The Things With Springs Clubhouse room is meant for a Live watch forum experience with a small GTG. We are striving for a collector to collector conversations.. having collectors either email me photo of there watch ( or they can join the forum and reply to this thread ) so we can " chat" about in real time... Just to be clear we dont have to talk about a posted watch ... this is a free flowing room on topics on vintage watches and things around watch collecting ... And at the end of the GTG when everyone leaves the CH room... and the room no longer exist ... This thread will remain as a quasi record of the event and we can later go back and refer to.... Hear you at 4 pm EDT Sunday ....

THINGS WITH SPRINGS CH CHAT 02/13/22

Remember the Clubhouse room is only as good as the collectors that join in.... please post a watch, timepiece , clock etc you want to chat about.

Be Safe

Good Hunting

Hi everyone....

Ok there are SCAMS going on all the time on Ebay.... but this one scammer has constantly ( last 4 weeks ). Hijack other ebay sellers accounts and POSTS like 8000 auctions.. out of the 8000 items ( I am guessing he/she as a bot that pulls top $$ completed auctions and then just creates new listing with the photos the bot grabed... plus ads a photo of how to contact them directly for a "fast sale" ).

The funny thing the scammers Bot has grabbed a 10 inch Chelsea clock that previously sold for like 7400$ last year. As opposed to a 1680 Red Sub , there is really only one 10 cheslea with a specific dealer signed dial! It basically is a one off Clock.

I have seen three different ebay seller accounts hacked with this item for sale!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/203830564225?hash=item2f753f9581:g:GMIAAOSwWH5heJ~X

and by the time of the chat today the above auction should have been removed...

so here is a pic of the clock...

please treat this as a pubic service announcement.

Good Hunting
Bill

Hi Again
Also since I always mention Chelsea clocks.. and some here are starting to look at them...
This is the second time this clock has been up …
“Typical seller saying does not have a key . “
And they stand behind there descriptions ….
If your planning on bidding on this one you need to ask for a movement photos . Last time I saw a pic of this movement the balance was rusted away .
here is the current auction
https://www.ebay.com/itm/115246713964?hash=item1ad53d4c6c:g:7R8AAOSwFMhiBsvk

It looks good on first glance.... but when a pawn shop dose not have a key? I asked for movement photos, no reply.
it is a different seller.. can the clock be restored.. but as a clockmaker I know would say " The juice is not worth the squeezing ... " I would pass on this one.

I found a pic the end of the previous auction. Plus pics from the previous winner ( almost loser ) before returning item … on a positive note it is numbers matching !

Good luck

Here is a 1990 Seiko 7a28-7120 Gen 1 that I picked up off eBay. It was a British military issue to RAF and Army helicopter pilots. Uses the 7a28 movement. The first Analogue Quartz movement. I thought Mitka might like this.

This seems to be a Lip watch that was photographed on the desk of French President Emmanuel Macron.

My latest purchase that was an eBay find: a West Emd & Co. that has been set on a NATO strap.
