This one really floored me. Made me move that 7077 I got with the 2998-5 to the safe.

    What the ...........????
Well I bought my bracelet with #4 end link. Can I put it on 105 003 ?
It is not an original one (made by YKK so I guess Japanese compatible).

These bracelets were never really usable to me.

    now they definitely are not!

i understand this money if it is going into a 2915. It's a small percentage of the value compared to the value of an average 2998. There are to my knowledge two 2915's being put together in private hands.

Three bidders on the last day took it from $1300 to 2300 then two bidders to the finish up at 3300.

thats all you need in an auction, two buyers crazy for something.

Perhaps I am spared, since I have never worn any watch with its original bracelet.

    Thank-you.

Could have also been shill bidding - not uncommon with this seller... we will see if it pops up again...
    just my 2 cents

Agreed. Will definitely be interested to see if it pops up again. A mistake though to shill bid it this high since the price it ended up at is to me unrealistic.

I agree that it was not a shill. This price exceeds all reasonable and most unreasonable expectations, and I don't even the greediest seller would have his shill bid it up this high.

I'm not sure about that. Speedmasters and their accessories are getting expensive and I never underestimate greed.

I have watched multiple auctions of this seller. Mostly he has utmost unreasonable starting or buy now prices... he is offering them for months without a sale, then he starts with a very low price in a regular auction, often ending very high - some time after this the very same item is up for sale once again...
so you can make up your mind about this yourself...

    Hi

Wasn't the 'Buy it now' set at £2200 GBP the other week....bit of a coincidence ?It was also short by a 'double' link....

Made my 7077/6 look a good buy at £1500 GBP with a complete Omega rebuild @ 2yr guarantee :)

    Best - Neil

I'm quite skeptical of this price too. I typically have seen nice 1039 bracelets sell for $400-$600, with even a couple of nice examples sell as outliers for a shade over $200 around Christmastime last year. Conversely, I noted 1-2 outliers in the just a bit above $600, but not often.

    A 7912 dated 64 sold just a couple weeks ago for $467.64.

Note that BINs for 1039 and 1506's between $999 and $1499, simply haven't sold. Period.

I also saw one oddball auction (may have even been from this same seller) about two months ago for a pair of #6 endpieces that "sold" for a final sale price around $1250 or so!!! A much more realistic example was a single #6 in Rome that sold on eBay the other week for £90.88 GBP, or $137.58. That is a much more representative price of bracelets and endlinks that I've seen in general. I also recall an auction from about a month ago for TWO 7077 bracelets, and those sold for I think just a shade over $1000. If I remember right, it was like $1200 for the pair.

At the end of the day I don't put a lot of credibility toward this final sales price of what amounts to somebody bidding up a bracelet to the price of a nice premoon Speedy!! Heck, just today, a nice, original 105.003-65 with 7912 bracelet and 6 endlinks sold for $4150. So at best this is an absolute aberration; but most likely, this was a scam/shill bid.

    cheers,
    Mark
