Canuck - you do realize C is what most of the world uses, right? 馃榾

And this Canadian understood it a long time ago...I have to convert F to C in my head to understand what it really means.

Degrees F makes about as much sense as Dennison mainspring measurements....none at all in my view. 馃え

Cheers, Al

I am interested! How is it that most temperatures given in this thread are in degrees Celsius! We Canadians are beginning to understand Celsius after 40 years of using it. Is there a trend developing that I'm not aware of? Our high today is forecast to be 31掳 C., or about 88掳 F. But it's tolerable with about 30% humidity.

Funny metric measurement mostly used in the USA is for ammunition.

I agree with Archer about the Dennison system of mainspring measurement. I am accustomed to seeing F掳 on weather reports from our neighbours to the south who don't appear to use C掳. But I am beginning to get the impression that much of the rest of the world does use C掳. What I do not yet understand about weather reports in Canada that list record temperatures (taken in F掳 decades ago), and comparing them to modern temperatures, using decimals.

I still like using Fahrenheit, it's an age thing. My car keys are programmed differently, Fahrenheit for me and Centigrade for my wife. I wouldn't like to go back to pounds, shillings and pence though.

Having worked as an engineer for a US based company for 23 years, I had to be fluent in both measuring systems. Most of the work I did here in Canada was done in imperial like was done by the headquarters in the US, but metric dimensioned drawings were the standard from our European and other plants around the world.

Moving between metric and imperial measurements wasn't too difficult after a while. What was more challenging for most (especially the noobs in the engineering department) was the flip from third angle orthographic projection to first angle when dealing with drawings from other parts of the world...I've seen some confused looks on people's faces from that one...

BTW, if you have ever tried to capture a photo of lightning with your handheld smart phone, try running a video of the sky instead and you can pause the video to capture a screen shot.

I shouldn't complain this is about as bad as winter gets here.

High of +16 is winter? That was most of our spring and early summer...

Thankfully some heat has finally moved in, but I don't think we have broken 30 here yet, which is very unusual for this time of year. Will be 27 and sunny today.
