I saw on the news it hit like -2* in Amirillo. WTH! I came down here to Houston to get away from the D.C. weather and it got down to the low 30's. 馃


It ultimately got down to 14F here which is where it is at present. 76F yesterday afternoon. 14F this morning. Yippee.

Here's to those who will have to suffer a green Christmas. But long for a white one! Eat your heart out! ( P S: I envy you!) But here on the western Canadian prairies 100 kms east of the Rocky Mountains, this is close to a perfect winter day!

3 to 6 inches of snow predicted here in western Mass. The supermarket was a zoo at lunchtime when I shopped.

Minus 18掳 C (0掳 F), wind chil -22掳 C. Sun shining, which counts for a lot. Speaking of lots, this is what our back yard looks like. There's a suet block hanging in the tree, to the left, near the top of the picture. The resident flicker will clean that up in less that a week, with the help of many smaller birds. The bird feeder is usually quite busy with finches, red polls, chickadees, sparrows, and once in a while, the flicker. Fun to watch. Hare all over the front cul-de-sac, of course. And frequent visits from mule deer. They sleep under our fir tree in the front yard, where there's no snow.

Forecast for today here was 82F. NOAA indicated it was 84F. Official noelekal temperature indicates it's 86.9F (30C).

Was 87F but dropped a tenth before the camera could be fetched for a photo. Never saw (or felt) it this warm in January in this part of Texas.
