Here in NC Ohio it got to almost 60 today. The grandson and I were walking around the pond to determine what we would do to it this summer when a little tree frog jumped back into the pond. That's about the earliest I have ever seen a frog out and about. I did see the first bat of the year last week.

You and your pretty rats. Wait until they chew up the wiring in your house or in your vehicle. You won't be thinking such nice thoughts about them. I have a box with a rat trap and a hole just big enough for them to get in. Check it daily and empty it 2 or 3 times a week.

Well having lived in this house for 20 years now, with every sort of animal you can think of on the property at one time or another, we have had zero problems really. Chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, weasels, possum, skunks, wild turkeys, all the way up to coyotes and of course deer in the back yard in the winter looking for something to eat. Once had an owl come down the chimney and fly around inside the house for a while until we were able to direct him out the front door, but that's it. Here he is on top of the old fridge:

Oh we did have a raccoon in the garage last week - he wandered in there when we were getting groceries out of the car and had the garage door open. I just shooed him out and it's all good.

We moved out here to be in nature. My next door neighbor moved out here, and then complains about the animals, which to me is a bit whacked. 🤨 Did you not expect there to be animals out in the country? 😕 But hey whatever! 😁

We too, have all the above mentioned critters. All are more than welcome to live here and we enjoy them. Even have a game camera to take their photos. However, those pretty little rats are the only ones I actively keep under control. Twice they chewed the wiring in my truck. The sneak in and you can hear them running around in the attic inside the insulation. Decon in the winter and traps in the nice weather. Aren't wild turkeys something else? We had a coon tear out the screen door to the porch to get at the food for the ducks. Removed the food and he quit coming in and I replaced the screen. Two other critters we get rid of are minks and groundhogs. Live trap the minks and relocate. Not so lucky for the groundhogs, The minks kill the baby ducks just for fun and the groundhogs undermine anything and everything.

They clearly hate you for something you have done in a previous life or something.

I get along fine with mine...they will often come up on the deck and sit near me while I read at lunch. We put seeds and nuts out for them too...it's the least we can do since we moved into their neighborhood.

I was a Red Tailed Hawk or something like that! I'm not talking 2 or 3 of them. I'm talking dozens and dozens. They run in groups. The hawks don't even make a dent in them.

Here's a non-native species that has made a home here:

Rather have this guy then the Burmese pythons or lionfish.

Weather is warm today, about 26C. We'll be up over 30 in a few weeks.

Summer is here.
