This is what people refer to as the noob tax. I imagine this will not be either a simple or cheap fix. If it is expensive to repair I would recommend selling/returning this one as it is (perhaps remove the bracelet and sell it separately) and looking for another. Perhaps check out the private sales here for one which will be in better condition.

Am I misunderstand that you bought it from a shop? If so, this is less than 24hrs since purchase. I would bring it back and if you paid with credit card I would stop payment.

I did have the same issue with a trench watch I purchased and it was indeed the canon wheel.

Imo, if you’re stuck with it, it’s not the end of the world. We knew it would probably need a service even though the place you got it said it has been serviced, and you got it for $375 on the brick bracelet! All in with the service you stil have a friggin stellar Connie for a decent price. I paid market value for mine and I feel like I got a steal when I wear it- this is a great era for Omega’s.

well that was my plan as you saw me right. Anytime I get something decent I bring it for service. I had a rado , yeah I know I just like rados, brought to this guy I know. Full service and some repair for 175. If I have to put 300 in it I’m still ahead. This guy has connections and is good prices. If it is more much more than that I can work something o

What did it end up costing you. I got the watch for 375 and I knew I had to put money into it. There is a guy in town who worked at swatch and has connections. He does excellent work guaranteed for a year. The crystal was just replaced maybe things got loose or if the issue is bigger and I put under 300 in it I figure I’m ok. If not I can go back to the place and work something out. I bring every automatic to service when I get one and assume it’s going to need something. If the fix isn’t bad I’ll still be ok

I have a dynamic on the way and know I need a service and repair the area where the watch connects with the band or Im going to get the steel bracelet. The guy I got it from told me this and took off the price of the steel bracelet. If you leave yourself enough room when getting such things you can be alright.

    Oh no @Walrus.
Collecting vintage watches is an expensive hobby.
Long time ago, I was a guy like you now, I bought a fake Chinese Constellation to start and then about $1000 for maintenance for the next 5 watches.
Learning from mistakes is the best way to cut cost and if you can service your own watches that would be great, too. (lots of fun).

But if you want to buy only one watch to wear, I would recommend a modern watch not a vintage.

I already have about 20 just no omega yet. Have a Rolex but it’s a Cellini. If the fix on this omega isn’t outrages this guy has some nice watches. Let me show you one he had it’s not omega I’ll put it here to show you and discuss in Rolex some other time.

He had a nice looking newer constellation with the round face and gold trim. I really looks the look of them but it was a quartz. (It was working ha ha) wanted 600 for it it is very negotiable. He had two other Rolex and Bvgari which looked nice, 2,500 which is meaningless to me As i know nothing about about them bvgari 3E99C26C-40E0-4315-99D9-C4AC50FC1E78.jpeg P

I would avoid both of those, especially the redialed Rolex.

I enjoy the hell out of them. Even the mechanicals that 20 seconds of winding is a good way to start the day. Right now I’m stuck on my Vostok as I just got it but will be changing into something different soon. I just like watches but I am going to get a tool set and start working on a few old junks I have around l. I don’t plan on being a master watch maker but it will certainly give me info I don’t yet posses
