I was perusing the Swatch Group's 2014 annual report and saw a complete list of watch brands that reside under the Swatchco umbrella. It's a long list indeed, from Breguet to Flik Flak (the Flik Flak "Magical Unicorns" model is pictured above). It got me to wondering: have any watch enthusiasts come close to achieving, or actually achieved a Swatch Group Grand Slam -- owning at least one example from each brand? Personally, I've barely left the starting line. I once owned a Tissot that I used for SCUBA diving but it finally succumbed to one-too-many surf entries in a rocky reef. What about you, esteemed Forum members? How close do you come to a Swatch Slam? (don't be shy about illustrating your response with photos) Here's the list (the groupings are Swatch's doing, not mine): Prestige and Luxury Range Breguet Harry Winston Blancpain Glashütte Original Jaquet Droz Léon Hatot Omega High Range Longines Rado Union Glashütte Middle Range Tissot Balmain Certina Mido Hamilton Calvin Klein Basic Range Swatch Flik Flak
I could afford the "'Basic Range" slam. I would not mind owning a swatch, and I could buy the magical unicorn watch and gift it to my neice. Then be on the look out for her post....did my uncle give me a fake watch?
I bought a few Flik Flak watches for my nephews and nieces...those are pretty pricey for what they are actually...gotta start the watch collecting instinct from the young age
I agree on the Basic Range @Taddyangle . I was tempted recently to buy one of these: a Swatch Sistem51. It's an automatic with an 80-hr power reserve for about $110. The number "51" refers to the total number of parts in the movement.
Omega, Longines, Certina, Hamilton, Swatch, for me. Although 90% of these are pre-Swatch. Two Speedmasters, one Hamilton w/w, three Swatches, but all the rest are pre-Swatch. Do they count?
Omega and Tissot by me. Balmain and Hamilton by Madame. I'm not sure I would really look to extend the list with other brands...
Flik Flak for niece and my son some time ago, Swatch, Hamilton and OMG can't believe it but a Calving Klein I got at some event as a present. Omega of course
Prestige and Luxury Range Breguet - worn several different models, want one eventually Harry Winston - worn 2 different models Blancpain - owned a couple Glashütte Original - worn several, never bought that PanoReserve I wanted Jaquet Droz - worn one, would love to see a 37 mm version instead of the ones I like being 43 mm Léon Hatot - who? Omega - lost count years ago High Range Longines - lost count, part deux Rado - owned one in a previous life Union Glashütte - tried one or two on Middle Range Tissot - owned several Balmain - who part deux? Certina - worn a few Mido - worn a few Hamilton - owned several Calvin Klein - was more of a Jordache guy back in the late 70's and 80's Basic Range Swatch - owned one Flik Flak - bride of who? I've owned and handled too many watches!
Of the ones I do not own I think only a Breguet is on the list. Blancpain and Glasshütte are also candidates. Owning a few Lemania I am kind of almost there with regards to Breguet
Interested in the 2-toneTissot PRS 516 Bi-Compax. Movements are also available on the Longines Heritage Chronograph & Rado D-Star Automatic Chronograph watches The Tissot is not yet available in the States... ...
I've seen the 2-tone between $1,400-$1900 (equivalent) in Europe. Watch size is 45mm. Here is the review on it. http://www.ablogtowatch.com/tissot-prs-516-chronograph-watch/
Wow, Certina is considered 'middle-range?' For me, I have an Omega, Tissot and a Certina (even if it is just an old 1960s DS :> )
I'd consider Certina (as in the vintage ones) as upper middle class. In most all respects on par with Tissot and Omega. The DS range, specifically the DS-2, is at least in level with the Omega offerings st the time.
