Given my recent graduation from university, I decided to acquire a practical but luxurious watch; something that can be used on a daily basis. I work in the aerospace industry and have had a passion for anything aerospace related from a young age. The two brands that spoke to me the most, given their extensive heritage and close relationship with aviation, were Breitling and Omega. Being a long time admirer of these brands, I knew that my top choices were the Navitimer, Avenger Blackbird, Speedmaster, and the Seamaster 300. After trying on each of the watches, my focus immediately shifted to Omega and the Seamaster. The Breitlings were far too large for my taste and the Speedy did not have the wrist presence I desired. Don't get me wrong, the Speedy WILL be my next purchase, but, for my first watch purchase, the Seamaster was perfect. I look forward to collecting more timepieces in the near future! Beautiful watch, man! The Seamaster just felt better on wrist for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I love the heritage and story behind the Speedy, it was just beat out by the Seamaster according to my ranking criteria. What year is your speedy? I am still learning about Omegas and differentiating between the various generations.
I bought it on the rubber but acquired the bracelet as well. I have heard very good things about the micro-adjustment feature. I have yet to attach the bracelet because I am waiting on the tool. I ended up ordering a Bergeon 6767-S from Amazon to deal with the springbars.
I am not typically a Tag fan, but that is a good lookin' watch! Do you happen to know the reference number?
It might be the best looking Carrera in a long time. Do a search for “Carrera SpaceX”. It’s a limited edition, you can still find em for less than msrp. And since you have an interest for Breitling, we have another thing in common. My reissued 806 welcomes you.
I could not seem to find any used SpaceX Carreras for sale under the reference " CAR2015" as provided by this article: https://www.calibre11.com/tag-heuer-carrera-spacex-1887/ I love the original AOPA commissioned Navitmer as well as the reissue. Do you ever find the thickness of most Breitlings annoying? That was a big turn off for me. I can see myself getting one down the road , but not for my first or second watch.
Here u go, make them an offer. These go around $6k ish. They appeared on eBay once in a while. https://www.chrono24.com/search/ind...=1&watchTypes=&accessoryTypes=&goal_suggest=1 My manual wound 806 is slimmer and lighter than many of my 40mm. It’s comfy to wear all day too. It might be a hair thicker than your SM, I bet the Breitling is lighter, due to plexiglas. (Maybe. I don’t own an SM300) But I agreed, original 806 would be a better buy since prices are in the same ballpark.
