I have a 50th Snoopy coming along soon and have an 1861, but am considering getting a 3861 so that the bracelet can cross over and selling my 1861. These pics definitely have me thinking I'll like the new one.

With the small links I was surprised how many were removed at the AD for my 3861 last year.
I have had the watch a while now and the clasp was not central on my wrist. The pins / links are so small I got my watchmaker to adjust it yesterday. The clasp is small but I was amazed how much of a difference getting it centralised made. I am really enjoying the bracelet now - it is really important to get the size and location on the wrist spot on. The lack of micro adjustment is a pain, but with the small links most people should get a good fit - but do not rush it and do adjust it if it is not spot on. I am glad I did. Shame screw bracelets are a pain unless you are hawk eyes. I did laugh when my watchmaker put a spring-bar into orbit (so it is not just me who does that). Before and after wrist shots below.

So I just had 2x Forstner presidents 1450 delivered 1x for a 145.012 and 1x for a 3861.
Knowing me it will be a while before I get time to try them out but photos will follow at some point.
First impressions are good.

Just bought the Forstner President for 3861, and absolutely love it versus even the vaunted steel bracelet on the 3861, just a little more 'heft' overall which I like. I also like the wider middle piece, just feels less 'bitty' if that makes any sense.

My 3861 has the 4196 bracelet from my 2020 mfg. 1861. It had a Forstner band on it but after swapping the two everything fits much better. I had to remove the tabs from the 1861 bracelet's end links to get the springbars to line up with the 3861's holes but after that everything went together. It was weird-it looked like the pins should snap into the holes in the lugs but they just wouldn't. There is a bit of play between the curves in the end links and the curves in the case but nothing too serious (see pic). This bracelet was always either too loose or too tight on my wrist when it was on my 1861 but between the different lug distances and flatter caseback on the 3861 and the tiny bit of play in the end links this combo fits my wrist perfectly. Oddly enough, the unaltered 957 bracelet from my 1861 Apollo 11 40th Speedy fits my brother's 3861 just fine. I do think it's irritating and ridiculous that there are a total of two bracelet adjustment holes on the last several generations of a $6000+ watch, but maybe that's just me.

FYI, I believe Uncle Seiko now makes a half like no for the 1861 bracelet .

So what was the link configuration that made your best fit and clasp centering?

What I did was purchase 2 Forstner AM bracelets, both 1450 and contemporary flat link for 1861 and a modern Seamaster 300M with end-links for Seamaster. I bought both off Ebay for about $100 each in excellent condition. I think the flatlink works better with sea and 1450 is unbelievable on speedy. Very impressed with both Forstner bracelet.

All of my retrofits have been done by others and posted somewhere with photos so I don't have any pics, but here goes anyway:

My Hesalite 3861 wears the wide Komfit Forstner JB mesh band with the straight ends. This watch has become my Bill Anders Commemorative since he passed away. I actually met him once. He was sitting under his P-51 talking on a StarTac and I spotted him as I drove by at work. Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
My 3861 Sapphire Sandwich wears an early version Forstner 1450 with the stamped clasp. I removed the stretchy links and replaced them with the rigid links I took out to make the bracelet fit. I had to get creative for the link end to fit the clasp but it worked out. This combo is the absolute perfect setup for that watch. Erich von Daniken wears an 1861 with the factory 1450 bracelet and that's where I got the idea.
My Silver Snoopy 50th wears the two tone 3861 bracelet from the SS. This is the way the watch should come from the factory.
My 1997 Reissue 1861 wears an Omega Apollo 11 50th bracelet. This combo makes for the perfect retro Speedy.
My last year production 1861 wears the 1499/842 bracelet from the Reissue. It looks like a standard 1861 bracelet but the links are slightly narrower and it has a stamped five size clasp. This combo fits my wrist perfectly, which is something the stock STZ bracelet never did. It was always slightly too big or too small since Omega steadfastly refuses to put more than two holes in its clasps these days.
All of these fits were done without modification. I don't remember which diameter springbars are on which watches, but they are all factory Omega so there are only two sizes to figure out. Cheers!
