The Speedy 3861 Bracelet Thread

As most of us here will agree, the bracelet that comes with the 3861 is near perfect but some of us like to tinker and be different from the norm.

Now that being said, I finally installed my new bracelet after doing a test fit on my SMP. I truly feel that this flat link bracelet belongs to the speedy.

Let’s see all your bracelets and straps on the 3861,OEM or aftermarket. This would be a great thread for reference of fitment and/or modification required to fit a certain bracelet.

Thank you for starting this thread….not crazy about the stock 3861 bracelet….it’s comfortable but the clasp is just too narrow for my taste……

wish they added a quick micro adjustment on the clasp and quick release spring bar to take advantage of the natural strap monster the Speedy is…..

having said that….was thinking of getting the 1861 bracelet and adding the SMP micro adjustment clasp, but didn’t want to invest unless it fits….probably the wider 1861 bracelet would make the 3861 Speedy feel a bit more heavier, robust, etc……

I finally got to see the new 3861 on its bracelet in the flesh a few weeks ago. I don't like the new bracelet. I think the taper is too aggressive and I'm not feeling the clasp design. That said, the watch itself is nice looking. If I had my way, the "Ed White" reissue would be perfect if it came with a solid caseback, hesalite, tritium, and the original hippocampus; a legit 105.003 reissue. I'd be all-in.

Some might find that a bit too cliché, but in reality it would be a brand new 321 powered high-end timepiece with all the snazzy features and none of the often questionable history of a used piece.

How cool would it be to put your own lifetime of history into practically the exact same watch the guys from the 60s did but from new?

I'd be interested...sorry if that's off-topic. I think the bracelet swap looks nice, OP

I got the sapphire 3861 but disliked the polished links so I swapped it for the fully brushed one from the hesalite 3861. Best of both worlds in my opinion. I like the new bracelet, even the aggressive taper, but really wish Omega would put the push-button quick adjust clasps on all their models.

hey that looks fantastic......I bought the Speedy for everyday tool watch and the stock sandwich 3861 bracelet is a tad too flashy for me....almost for formal wear.....

Did the AD just swap it or by the OB when you bought the Speedy?

I got the part number for the hesalite bracelet (020STZ013434) and was able to just ask my local AD to order it for me. ADs/boutiques won’t let you just swap them out cause then they’d have a mismatched set, but you can buy the one you want and then sell the one you don’t. I was able to sell mine on one of the (unofficial) Omega Facebook groups.

Pic request for Uncle Seiko options pls 😀
I just ordered the 3861 end links for the 1450 US bracelet, which I used for my previous 1861 sapphire sandwich. I will post pics as soon as the end links come in…

For those who don’t like the polished look of the sapphire sandwich bracelet, there is a video on YouTube that points out that you can simply flip the links on the bracelet, and voila, you have a brushed finished bracelet.

Is that the 50th Anniversary flat link, and did you need to make any modifications? I've read in some posts that it fits the 2021 Speedmaster 3861, but others say it doesn't-- or that you can make it fit but it's not perfect. Just curious what your experience was.

Just fitted the US 1450 bracelet to the 3861. I had to order the new end links to get it to fit . I should have taken a side by side of the end links before I put the bracelet on for comparison, but I’ve added a few shots of the old end links for reference. New ones fit snuggly against the case and overall feel is a bit more substantial than the OEM. US also has more micro adjustments on the clasp to get the perfect fit.

that's a great mod @Omegafanman ....so basically all you do is use the spring bar to attach the Uncle Seiko bracelet to the 3861 SEL ?

Is there an Omega clasp that can be used to swap the US clasp?

Any US bracelets that can be retrofitted with an OEM clasp?

Yes, they're made to be replacements so pretty close to the original dimensions. I have US1450 on clasp from Omega 1162/173.

I just retrofitted an Omega clasp to the US1450. Perfect fit. Edit: clasp was from the service bracelet I got for my cosmic diver Seamaster . Ref 020ST1181215. Clasp seems fairly generic so I’m sure others OEM clasps would also fit US 1450
