They look to both be discontinued with low chance of dealers getting orders filled for the old model. New prices 8,550 cad and 9,700 cad. A little less than a $2000 increase in Canada for both. Also, no more big box set is likely. All for a new movement? We shall see.

New model to likely launch in January.

You can still order it on the Omega website so it's still continued. I can no longer read this stupid talk of private contacts and reliable information. Every day a different busybody comes around the corner.

Am I assuming the new CAD prices are strap or bracelet options?

I suspect this means £6k - £7k range in the UK, between £1k - £2k less than listed prices for the A11 and Silver Snoopy 50th pieces which is where I'd suspect a cal. 3861 'standard' Moonwatch to be.

Long time lurker haha, just decided to create an account recently to buy a watch. If you DM me I can let you know. However, I won't be posting publicly as they did not give me explicit permission to quote them.

    A CLASSIC MOVEMENT
Until 1968, the Speedmaster was powered by the iconic calibre 321 which was later changed to calibre 861. This was updated with the high-grade rhodium-plated finish of the calibre 1861 and the more embellished 1863. Today, the timepiece is driven by virtually the sample hand-wound movement trusted by NASA’s astronauts on the Moon.

Pretty sure it’s says 1861 and 1863 on their website

From a Canadian watch forum...post from the owner of the forum, who is a grey market dealer and is citing his "contacts"...

    Speedmaster.png
Sellers are pumping up the "discontinued" idea for months now, and as we saw here not too long ago, even a boutique made up some unofficial letter they sent out telling people to "get one while you can" so people are trying their best to profit off this stuff.

The Speedmaster hasn't been "discontinued". It's been updated regularly since 1957...

Al you are right that it is not "discontinued" but the price jump of nearly $2000 cad has never happened before.

As for the reliability of the info. Bobby is not known to post false information.

    Hi Al,

It goes beyond that, there have been other external industry corroborating sources.

Looking forward to adding the next iteration to my small watch collection to partner my 1861 Hesalite.

Sure - here's the thing, if you already know that the watch is going to get a new movement eventually (information that has been out there for a very long time) and people have been making claims every week for months and months that "It's going to be discontinued soon!" well eventually you will be "right", even though it isn't actually being discontinued, just updated.

Is another dose of "insider information" worth yet another thread on this topic? I suppose to some it does...but for me I'll just wait for Omega to actually say it.

Keep in mind we had a very fake looking letter posted a while back that came from an OB saying the same thing...so that was certainly "industry corroborating sources" as well, even though it was very likely some sales guy at an OB trying to lure people in to buy up Speedmasters they had in stock using the panic language of "discontinued"...

Omega certainly doesn't need to hype this, as everyone who is rushing to "break" the news is doing it for them...over and over again...

So they are going to drop the Moonwatch box a year after the 50th anniversary of the moon landing..... Right
Yet they launched it in 5 years before the anniversary......

So they aren’t calling it the Moonwatch anymore ??

When Omega announce it, I will believe it.

    Hi Al,

I already posted in the CWC thread of who the insider was as it's a relatively small private forum. I think it's safe to say that their word is quite reliable and worthwhile in consideration. I don't understand your resistance to this news, I don't think anybody is trying to hype up the 1861 speedmasters. They are still a dime a dozen.

They may be a dime a dozen but at least they don’t have the rubbing of wheels issues the 3861 have ;)

In Switzerland the prices will be
6250 CHF for the hesalite version (4950 CHF for the modell we have now)
7100 CHF for the saphire sandwich (5850 CHF for the modell we have now)
->a price increase of about 20%
->prices seem to be presented to the OBs begining of this week, but they were not yet aware how the watch will look / respectively what they will change except of the caliber.
->as well the FOIS will be discontinued and not replaced for the time being.

Fair, but I can't see them becoming "hyped" as Al thinks that what people are trying to do. There are hundreds of thousands of 1861's out there new and used. I doubt they will become "hyped" in our lifetimes.
