I am considering buying this Seamaster 300 165.024. It looks rough but pretty original to me. Any other opinions
Hard to tell. If you look at the 9:00 and 10:00 it is possible. Better pictures would definitely help. The spring bars look the same as the ones that came on my SM300. They should have a little spring lever to remove and replace them. Do you have any more pictures from the seller?
The numbers on the movement correspond to the correct time period. I am aware that the engraving on the back is missing. does this significantly effect the price?
That stubby may be a crystal scratch...tough to tell. Looks like the typical "bottom of the sea" patina that we see so often. A bit rough, but may be a very honest example, and honest is better than relume!!!
To make a long story short. It all comes down to the price. The watch should be significantly cheaper than a nice one with beautiful patina. As it is, it looks like an honest beater that has seen some adventures. I kinda like that as long as it is reflected in the asking price...
Wouldn't buy it. I can see stubbies at 4 spots and back most likely lathed to remove the telltale point A in Waterproof DON
Well others thought different of it....... Went for ~12k USD including fees So come on hands up who got it, hope it was someone on here........
Yeah, I just created a new thread about a possible 'Omega Bubble' I might add it wasn't me that bought it.
That is interesting, I started a new thread concerning an 'Omega Bubble'. Curious which other site was discussing it?
Was discussed on the MWR - Military Watch Resource forum which deals with military watches. Some thought it to be military due to the back and fixed bars. Number believe it to be a well done fake. http://www.mwrforum.net/forums/showthread.php?79089-Manky-SM300-just-sold One of my favorite shows (which some UK guys may remember if old enough) was Lovejoy. An antiques dealer on the not so up an up. The show talked about how to fake items to make them appear older than they were. DON
I put in an absentee bid commensurate with the risk/concerns and got an email from the auction house to say it sold for £8000. Strange.......fired off an email to the auction house for clarification.
