Violins (3), and bow ties (about 24), clocks, jewellery and watches for my spouse.

A fellow bow tie collector! I too collect bow ties, although I'm not sure its counts as a collection since I sew them all myself. Here is a picture of most of my collection. Two bow ties in the picture below are store bought, the rest are 100% unique hand made by me!

And out of that collection here are some of my favorites in order.

Enough pictures, I think not!

Me sporting some of the bow ties!

Below is one of my favorites with my bespoke linen shirts.

And finally, me in one of my lectures!

whats that on my wrist? None other than my pie pan connie!

@Euxinus Those are some groovy bowties, do you take special orders?
I never really considered it but I don't see why not!

My favourite two bow ties I bought in Chianciano, Italy, in 2012. The little shop carried nothing but ties, puff pouches, suspenders, ascots, belts, and etc. I bought two silk bow ties, hand-made in Italy, for €22.00 each. Couldn't touch that where I live for three times the price. And lousy selection too, at the higher price.

I remember, nearly 50 years ago, in the men's furnishings department of a now defunct department store, when I fell in love with bow ties. I cold not, for the life of me, learn to tie them. I went back to the store, to the furnishings department, and asked the lady to show me how to tie him. I am 6'4" tall, and she was about 5'2" tall. That was a humorous process. I envy you being able to make your own!

Started collecting bikes and cars ended up with watches and pens.
There's a message there somewhere.
Oh I wish I kept those above three vehicles of all those I had.

they are my interpretations of the one ring, which started it all for me. as a kid i could never justify paying $3000+ for the ring so I decided to make my own.

Balisongs(butterfly knives) Started in the 80s with a Taekwondo and weapons kick for several years. Gotta find a good pic, have a few dozen I think by now. I have a favorite pair that I flip with both hands. It's impressive the speed that can be achieved. What you see in the movies is done very slow so that it can be seen on screen .

This was from a cleaning and oiling day...not all of them but most shown. I didn't notice this til now...watch related content is the Daytona peeking on right side.

Some cheap, some ridiculously expensive...1970s to now, titanium to tool steel to basic carbon steel blades... bone, stag, buffalo, ivory, exotic woods. The two little silver ones on middle right are flea market buys for $10 piece. Smoothest and fastest of any of them. If you want speed, there is a specific set of criteria. The stag handle one on middle left is the worst. Heavy, hard edges, sticky latch, loose pins. Ugh. But nice looking. The one on upper leftmost is the most used. Got that one back in '83 (was part of a pair, can't find the other one...yet)...I'd bet there are 100,000+ flips on that one. Smooth as buttah.

I'm at the stage of life where smaller things are easier to manage than larger things. I've sold 6 motorcyles and two cars on the past couple years, but my watch collection has grown.

This was my love affair...75 Shovelhead Custom. Cranky, cantankerous, loud, sexy, beautiful, lovely piece of Milwaukee iron. I still miss it but I just couldn't take it anymore. The guy who bought it drove 400 miles to pick it up and is absolutely thrilled with it, so I'm happy for him....maybe.🙁
The red paint absolutely glowed in the sunlight. And that motor...oh my.

since im home sick, lets break out some more collections

AHA, another cubist!

Since I posted previously in this thread my cube attachment from nearly 40yrs ago, and since i haven't actually tried it in several years(probably 10 yrs), I started googling what the hobby was like these days, and found I just need to have the latest and greatest, so here it is, the Moyu Aolong, supposedly used by the world champions. It doesn't feel as nice as the unit I had from the early days, but I'm going to try some of the old tricks to smooth it up a bit, and see what happens.

ive bought something very similar to that from a dollar store recently! its the one in the white box with the center cut out. im not much for speed cubing as I am for the theory. that is why the rest of the cubes are sort of mint. solve one, and youll be able to solve the other. when i was in practice, the best i ever got to was about a minute and twenty or so seconds on a regular cube, no tuning or modifications and enhancements. i like to give out my extra cubes in the clinic from time to time

They all sort of look the same, this one was $25 on Amazon, supposed to be the super model (there is an even higher model with magnets to self center the sides...those are $40). I bought a couple Rubiks brand a few years ago but they are really crap...I was disgusted right away. I was world record holder (briefly) in 1980 at 21 seconds. Personal best was 14 seconds. Kind of scared now, it was all subconscious back then. I couldn't tell you how to do it if I tried. So I have to find some uninterrupted time to concentrate a bit.

Throughout my early engineering career I would sometimes come across a cube in someone's office (99% time it was already scrambled from people playing with it), casually pick it up and solve it while having a conversation. Hehe. That was fun.

mine was $2.50 from the 99 cents store. i buy them mainly as curios. the resurgence in hs of cubing was very amusing. i suppose if i didnt waste all the money on various "speed cubes" id have at least one decent one. think the going rate is like $10? who knows. people do all sorts of crazy mods to their cubes.

thats pretty amazing!!! how are your times now? people buy all sorts of fancy gadgets to time their cubing. world records gotta be like 9 seconds flat or something like that nowadays.

same, someone bought a cube into the clinic the other week and couldnt solve it.

My wife is a dollar store hound, she doesn't need to be by any stretch, but she likes bargain hunting. Anyway, she tells me that there are two type of dollar stores...stores where everything really is a dollar, and those that start at a dollar. I think you found the latter😉.

World record now is under 5 seconds, I think its 4.79. That's hyperspeed, even to me. They have all categories now...foot solving, blind solving(with raised dots)...one handed even(yes!), so its evolved now and experiencing a resurgence.

I haven't picked one up to solve in about 10 yrs now, so I'm going to give it a try shortly with the new one.

That may be, but even if I wanted to sell them, I wouldn't know how to anyway. Many states here in US now restrict selling and carrying these knives. Its hollywood depicting these as evil I think, just like certain rifles...don't get me started there. Many are lumped into a gravity knife category, or poorly classified as an automatic because it only takes one hand to open. Lots of silliness. Here I can carry because I have a concealed weapons permit. I'm pretty sure they are not allowed otherwise. Also I think anything over 3" can't be carried either..but I could be wrong. Been a long time since I carried a knife in my pocket so i'm not up on the current rules.
