The (other) things we collect

Following on from today's Time 4A Pint Podcast, in which @neilfrancis talks a lot about collecting things, other than watches, I was interested to hear what else people collect.

Respectfully, can we please keep this thread free of guns.

One of my things is Chirashi, small, high grade flyers that are handed out around film releases in Japan.

These are the kind of things that get thrown away... so for older films, harder to snag.

A few fun ones:

So, what, other than watches, do people here collect?

I used to dj so I have a fair size collection of vinyl records. I still buy vinyl where ever I get the chance. I also collect GQ & Men's Journal magazine. GQ collection started back in the early 90's and Men's Journal started in the mid 90's.

US licence plates with my initials on. Genuine used plates, not vanities. It all started when I was a kid on holiday to Orlando and my dad found a plate (the Florida one pictured) in a novelties shop and was amazed it had my initials on. Since then whenever I find a stash of plates in a shop or flea market I always have to flick through them just in case. And eBay, of course. 27 states and counting...
Sorry for the blurry photo but I can't take a better one at the moment as I still haven't unpacked them all since moving house.

Too many mostly silly things, Magic cards, D&D books, old video games, but sometimes you have to ask if you're a collector or just a hoarder, a lot of it falls into the later category for me, I've still got all my old laptops going back to my Compaq 386 because I just never sell them off or throw them out :|

Music. Clouds go down and hard drives crash. That being said, every CD (and many of the records) has been ripped and replicated across five hard drives, including one off-site.

Re Indian motorcycles, there used to be a great BBQ restaurant across the street from the former Hendee factory that had someone's private collection on display. They were gorgeous.

That's the Scotch only...

Everything not Scotch...

That's just the drinking stuff. The wine and beer as well as long term collection/investment storage is in another place.

I've got an alcohol problem, thankfully not a drinking problem.

Indian Motor Bikes 1913 to 1951

If I were to bet...I'd bet my hotel/motel pen collection is worth much less than your Indian Motor Bike collection. 😁

That is fantastic! Love it when a collection requires furniture and/or cabinets to display the items. Chapeau!

I somehow knew you drink. Just hand me over the Ardbeg and I won't tell anyone.

The Ardbeg day is the most rare, luckily my buddy has an open one. One day I will sell mine. My favorite is Ugiedel, then Correyveckian, but straight Ardbeg 10 is a bargain right now as it is priced under Laphriog in most places, and a much better dram. These are all gifts from Foo Girl except for the Ardbeg day, and I have a nice picture of evaporated Ardebeg. http://erniebutton.com/?portfolio=vanishing-spirits-the-dried-remains-of-singlemalt-scotch also from her. Ardbeg is special to her, as that was the first peated spirit that she tried after I "forced" it on her, which opened up alot of different spirits to her.

These guys are super affordable, they are meant to look like vintage Pharmacy Cabinets. If you look close they are not one piece like a real vintage one would be, but they are awesome for display, and can easily take internal lighting if you want to light up anything inside them.
