Many aficionados and watchmakers claim the cal. 55X series of movements were amongst the best ever - robust, reliable, accurate, easy to service. I have one on my mid-sixties Seamaster.

While the new Trilogy Speedmaster shares a movement very similar to the one it had back in the late '60's, the new Seamaster (and Railmaster) use the new cal. 8806.

It may be too early to tell, and I am aware that the technology and materials have changed, but that notwithstanding: any opinions as to whether this new movement will be held one day in the same esteem as the 55X series, based on what you've seen, heard, or read?

Can't say much from a technological standpoint but having seen both new and Vintage movements the 55x series has a beauty to it unmatched by it's modern rivals!

I even had it exposed. But still this is a very interesting question, it would be very cool to see a technical comparison.
