I don't know if this new release has been dicussed but I actually think it looks quite nice, not that I sound surprised as I quite liked some of the other heritage releases, blue'd hands, better sized small seconds hand. I still think it's ashame they aren't considering a hand wound offering but I guess there is a bigger market for automatic maybe?
$2150 in loose change I still feel i'd rather put the funds towards something vintage but they do get me tempted sometimes. And this one is one for the JLC sector lovers.

Stand up triple IMO. Would’ve been a home run if hand-wound.

Great job by Longines - this vaults to the top of my recommendations when someone asks me what they should buy as a first watch, graduation gift, etc.

Damn, it looks great on that blue strap. And it's 38.5mm! 😀

Agree with the hand wound comments, but I personally hate numbers that are cut off, just looks like a half job to me!

Agreed. Should’ve taken off the “6” numeral. I also would’ve made the crosshairs stop when it hit the Longines name, then continue up.

Having said all this, I’m 100% still buying one.

Many on IG are saying that the original, on the left in the OP, is actually a redial.
Ollie Brewer (credit to him) on IG has posted the following picture, which shows his original (again on the left) vs the reissue. So there seem to be a fair few differences.

None the less, I think the reissue/reinterpretation/reimagiation looks great. I think that It’s a watch that is mainstream enough to appeal to “standard” Watch buyers but will also appeal to the enthusiast market- who knows as a result it could even bring some new blood into the vintage market.
Anyway, well done Longines!

it's a completely different reference. The case is not the same, as the bezel shows - the bezel on Ollie's watch is not a flat bezel, it's beveled.
HIs dial, of course is a (very nice) sector dial but so what ?
Those came on a variety of watches.

You’ve got good eyes @Syrte. I’ve been staring at the “original” in the OP for ages and can’t make out if it has a bevelled Bezel or not. At least I’m not sure if it’s the picture that’s not clear or it’s my eyes. Either way I’m sure you’re right and that they’re different references. Re reading Ollie’s IG it states his watch is “a 1930’s original” and not “the original” - so I don’t think he’s infering it’s the same watch either.

...and now I can't not see that ::facepalm1::

A open nine on the re-issue would be great. But as always, older is better. The
glory days will never return😀

I think there was a post with a leaked photo some time ago. It disappeared. Really beautiful watch, I don't mind the cut numbers that much but I would prefer a bit more water resistance. Very tempting 🥰

Newer options are nonetheless needed when it's pouring rain, or on vacation.

HI @sjg22

I would also prefer a hand wind....BUT ... they did not print "AUTOMATIC" on the dial... They did the dial right...

Good Hunting

I mean it’s not horrible.. definitely noticeable though!
Interestingly on the original above the crosshair goes in between the G and I. On the reissue it goes through the G. Someone must have noticed!

Either way, I like and I will probably pick one up to go along with the longines military watch I picked up earlier this year.

Correct you are, Steve. I’m still debating on the heritage military myself after we talked about it earlier this year. Both blue accented, no date, and 38.5mm. Perfect pairing indeed.
