Okay, so I’m at the point in my collecting where I’ve become nothing more than an eBay picker. I can be a sucker for a bargain.

I’ve always wanted a nice vintage Seamaster chronograph, but have been picky. It’s hard to find them in all around nice condition. And, like most of you, I hoped to find a stainless steel one.

As well, I’ve wanted an adjusted 321 movement. The accuracy of my Lemania Speedymoon (adjusted to 5 positions) has prompted me to wonder about those 2 positions 321s that made it into more Seamasters than Speedmasters. Two position 321 movements are over $3k just by themselves.

Finally, I haven’t had a BOR bracelet and they look very comfortable.

Well, this one was too good to pass up.

Came with a 14k BOR bracelet. Tried resizing it myself and decided to rely on my watchmaker. Hence the strap in the meantime.

According to ilovemyspeedmaster, this watch was made within a month of my 105.002-62.

I say it’s my last one cause nobody can breathe in forever; eventually, you have to breathe out. After the summer lull, I’ve got to consolidate and do the release part of catch and release.

I promise, once all the family is out of the spa, to get them together for a group shot before I start dispersing (some of) them. 23, Speedmasters or related, a great number for you numerologists.

    Oh, almost forgot. $5.9k

    Hard to complain, I think.

I envy people that can pull off gold watches. I put one on my wrist before, and it looked horrible. No gold for me unfortunately. Congrats and looking forward to family portrait

I feel the same way about yellow gold, but find rose gold makes a big difference.

From your words I understand that you are comparing a caliber 861 (there are no 321s adjusted to five positions) to a caliber 321 (which, even if carries the engraving "adjusted to 2 positions" is by no means different from a one that does not, given that the engraving was made on movement exported to US for commercial reasons). Did you measure them? Which differences did you find among two different generation movements?
    Regards,

Caught out! Fair enough. The Lemania movement is their version of Omega’s 1866, worked on by Swartz Etienne DA2A56E7-4375-4A33-BA98-45DF691A98FA.jpeg 656E1751-1E9D-4F52-9EA5-6E8008A38966.jpeg 37968934-FD1F-468E-A62B-603D4B9EC14C.jpeg

I did not know that the two positions markings on these 321s were meaningless.
    Ah well.

    I don’t have any measuring devices. :(
But I do compare against broadcast ‘international atomic time’ regularly.

I’m not being scientific nor pretending to be. I know that the Lemania is more accurate than the vast majority of my Speedmasters. There are some weeks that it’s off by less than five seconds at the end, worn every day. The biggest deviation in a week has been a gain of 15 seconds.

I’ve repeatedly considered getting a decent measuring device for a rank amateur. What would you guys suggest?

Without making resort to expensive Witschi devices, I would recommend a Timegrapher (sold under a variety of different names). However, in order to catch the general behaviour of the watch with a glance, I suggest a model capable of displaying the report of a six positions test. It is generally priced about 100-150$ plus the entry level machine, but it is worth the difference.

My instinct is that more than "needing" a measuring device, there might just be the possibility that you've got an itch in which case, crack on.
I have an app, I use it extremely infrequently. I haven't yet reached that point of swivelling my life around a second here or there but I understand that some people do.
