Kraft Dinner. The Australians have some sort of Mac & Cheese by Kraft, but they've completely f'd the flavour and pasta. Yeah, that's all I've got.
There's usually options like: http://www.usafoods.com.au and http://ocanada.com.au For some reason they can't get stock. I'm actually wondering if Australian Quarantine isn't letting the packages through for some reason. This one is amazingly good:
Gruyère and sharp white cheddar. It takes mac & cheese from a kiddie dish to damn near fine dining. Throw some ham chunks in there too for the carnivores. It's the ONLY cheese to use on top of onion soup too.
I'm a purist. Box directions meticulously followed, pasta al-dente. Don't get me started on the guys adding Ketchup to their KD with over-cooked pasta.
I realized there was tons of people watching that thread, so decided to save them from the flow of cheese.
Why hang out in canada? Cicindela, I take it you've never been to Montreal... Toronto is also very nice, I'm just partial to the Quebecois. IMO MTL is home to some of the most beautiful women in North America. Back to cheese... While Kraft Dinner may be the original, I hope everyone has the chance to try my personal favorite, Annie's.
This is how Aussies keep health care costs down! You probably have no idea how intimately connected this discussion is to the thread discussing the relative merits of the health care systems in Oz, UK and US. Mac-and-Cheese is the staple poison of obese Americans of all ages, but mostly kids. If we could just ship it all to Australia and get every American to eat a half pound of lettuce each day instead, our health care worries would be over.
Pasta - you want real mans food A pie in a tin, customs could have some fun with a controlled explosion
Kendrick, thanks to Trev's editing , you have it out context. Trev posted this: Trev is from Canada . So therefore I posted: Who needs needs Canada,eh? And yes, I have been all over lovely Canada.
This is an essential corrective. My main objection to mac & cheese (to many, many dishes in fact) has always been the absence of pig meat.
Yea, I used to have a Mac and cheese problem. Kraft made this stuff called "Easy-Mac" and I was an addict for probably 2 years. Kicked the habit around 2008, since then every day's been a struggle but I've been clean over 5 years.
