Got the FOIS. Got a Hadley Roma leather strap with curved ends. I learned not all curved-end straps have the same design -- meaning some take straight spring bars like the Omega OEM Rally strap and others like this HR, must have curved spring bars. It appears that my options with this particular strap are to either get a set of curved spring bars or attempt bending a set of straights. Searching for options, I also learned that there are watches with lugs designed specifically for curved spring bars - I assume holes set w/the appropriate angle. Now I'm debating if this HR is really a good option or idea for the FOIS as I wouldn't like this watch to launch off my wrist and be a test case of the FOIS ability to handle hard landings. So before I engage myself on a trial and error mode, any experience around here with this set up? Does the bending alternative require a slightly larger spring bar size? How much of a risk are curved end spring bars on a watch with lugs not designed for this set up? or is this strap really a bad option for this watch and should hit the ΩF FS section?
The strap did not come with proper spring bars?? All HR straps that I have purchased always came with spring bars.
Can anyone provide a few links to where I could get a good quality strap with curved ends. I guess as long as it comes with springbars it doesn't matter whether they are straight or curved bars. But I do like the look too.
I got mine from Freda Watch Straps. Kenny will provide the required spring bars. http://www.fredawatchstraps.com/alst1.html
I notice he has both HR and Hirsch curved end straps. Any preferences? I'm thinking for speedy and AT.
I'm a fan of curved end straps specially on my Speedy. One detail to consider is that not all curved straps will have that snug fit against the case as the fit achieved with the Omega OEM Rally strap. My only non OEM is a HR.
Here's the best curved strap ever made for the Speedmaster. Omega sharkskin with double ridge. Long Out of production
