There are some literary terms that we accept as hyperbole, such as "my knees buckled." We understand that the person experienced something emotional but their kness probably weren't actually affected.

Couple weeks ago someone said, you want to see a nice watch? It was a Ck2915-1 with tropical dial, original papers and purchased from the original owner with story of the day they bought it. When I first saw it, my knees literally buckled. I had to catch myself from falling. True story.
