I took some new photos (finally) of my 6094, which dates from the Super Oyster era (ca. 1952). I really enjoy wearing this, without having a screw-down crown...the (all red) date is easy to set forwards or backwards.

I think they're actually emobossed, as they're raised, no? Maybe it's hard to tell with the light reflections.

Aren't the edges below the surface of the dial?

Interesting...now that I checked with a loupe, the "Explorer" type numerals appear to be debossed, as you said, but the arrowheads are raised.

Nice. The (in)famous Red Date Super Oysterdate.

What bracelet is that…7205? I think your watch looks pretty close to perfect. My 6094 has a little lume burn @ around 6:40ish where it apparently was stuck in time for many decades.

Just out of curiosity: what is your serial number? Is it higher than 707xxx??

I think Rolex made some nice adjustment to the dial after the first production run...

BTW - doesn't this watch have the nicest winding action? You can actually feel the quality of the movement when winding. This is a shot of the movement on my 6094:

Yes, a little higher than yours...now that I checked, it's 1953. The bracelet is a 7205, but much later than the watch.

Hey dsio - did you see the font for the date wheel? Notice the shape of that 6? Or should I say G? 😜

a couple of better shots from the undisputed heavyweight lame-ass photographer champion of the world. This is the watch which started the legend that has become Rolex; one of the greatest (I read somewhere that Rolex is the greatest brand in the history of man. East India, Coke, Elvis, Apple, Dom, etc., Rolex has 'em beat by a mile...the very definition of iconic).

I (((wish))) I had papers and the original set for this watch. Serial number 707xxx makes this specific watch one of the very first made.

It's the difference between the watch being worth XXXX and XXXXX or basically one of my cars.

The crown on this watch is worth as much as the watch.

So is the date wheel.

Which is why there are so few original examples floating around. Rare for Rolex is a loose term but this watch is pretty rare.

But, alas, if its and buts were beer and nuts , (everyday would be Christmas, Life would be one long party, something really naughty which would get me banned with a quickness).

Reminds me of the double red AirKing. Rarest of the rare
