Does no other space junk fall to the ground anymore or just Elon's? Asking for a friend.

Yes, some stuff from an Indian space mission fell a while back and ended up on a beach if I recall. But Elon as usual is in front of everyone else, even in the falling space junk race.

I am going to sue if that thing hits me on the head, for sure. 😉

Space X spacewalk suits have been tested... doesn't really looks full-fledged EVA spa suit to me?

Never watched this show but it being the 55th anniversary of a moon landing another forum posted it, buzz just seems so cool

Upcoming Polaris Dawn mission which will see the first spacewalk by commercial astronauts as they will be testing the new Extra-Vehicular spaceX pressure suits.
The ambitious five day mission could launch as early as 26 August and thus far photographs of the 4 astronauts show them wearing large GARMIN wrist watches... surely they are not gone wear these over the space suit ?

Thus far we've seen what looks like large GARMIN wrist watches during the crew presentations...
As commercial/private spaceX Polaris mission crews have worn Apple watches but also IWC mission logo chronographs on earlier flights, just curious to see if we'll see another wrist watch brand being exposed to outer space on Polaris Dawn?
Again IWC has donated each crew member a chronograph, which will be auctioned after the mission...
Probably these will be worn underneath the new EVA-capable pressure suit... Adding to the 12 different brands already exposed to outer space!?
Two days & counting...

Bleh. At least Bezos still knows how to pick a timepiece for space..

If these IWC chronographs are mechanicals, I can see no reason why they can't be worn on Velcro straps outside of the space suit just like the Speedmaster. Should still work just as well. Only concern is that sapphire crystal fragments could become a hazard if they accidentally smacked the watch on a hard object.

Makes me wonder what Boeing would pick, probably Invicta to save some $$$

Launch "Polaris Dawn" postponed August 30, it looks like IWC chronographs worn underneath "gloves" of the spaceX pressure suit. Interesting to see if any wrist watches will be worn over their space suit during spacewalk!

Thursday Sept 12, 2024...
Stand-up EVA only? Thus far, besides the IWC pilot chronographs worn underneath the space suit, it looks like no extra wrist watch is strapped over the forearm of Polaris Dawn "spacewalkers"... #MoonwatchUniverse

SpaceX mission control answered my question by stating there's a time indication on the HUD - Head Up Display in the visor of the pressure suit helmet.
SEVA - Stand-Up Extra Vehicular Activity only, baby steps first before floating.
Remember in preparation of Gemini IV EVA, NASA also wanted to perform SEVA only, but training & tests, by John Young among others, pointed out how to improve the spacecraft hatch so a full 20 minutes floating spacewalk could be conducted on Gemini IV.
Wrist-watch-wise long story short, only the now well- known IWC chronographs underneath the Polaris Dawn pressure suit.

Damn. Can you even imagine waking up and knowing that you will be exiting your tiny spacecraft to be out in ACTUAL SPACE?!
I can't. I can't even imagine I'd be able to sleep the "night" before....

Really great pictures today.

Nice of them to arrange the spacewalk for lunchtime in the UK.

We’re so used to seeing NASA astronauts in bulky spacesuits that it was very odd to see someone looking like they were only wearing a motor bike helmet and leathers.

At times it did look like they were superimposed on a blackout stage - so just wait for the conspiracy theorists to wade in and now tell us that it was all done in a studio.
