Things could get confusing here in Canada then because we associate blue with the Conservative Party, red with the Liberal Party.
Yep. We are the reverse here. Blue = northern most Democrat run states and California.

Yes, having political discussions in Oz was difficult as I always had to clarify that Liberal here doesn't mean conservative.

For those who have never seen the original Molson commercial “The Rant” (circa year 2000):

And it’s recent update:

I was always partial to this one...

This one isn't so bad either...

Gotta say I'm not a Molson Canadian drinker, too much experience with it as a teenager, when it or Labatt's Blue was all there was, pretty much. But those ads are funny. The beaver in a bar one, I was in a fraternity (Canadian chapter of an American one) and the two on the right are likely supposed to be fraternity bros, neither my nor my other chapter members would never have acted like that 🤥.

Still not as scary as the Australian thread:

I
When I was at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum I had to take care of a female (american) tarantula hawk that was part of the interpretive animal collection. Believe it or not, it was a super friendly wasp! Absolutely loved strawberries and cantaloupe. She would get super excited and active when I came by with it and was never aggressive, but we're talking about a wasp that is fully capable of dragging a full grown paralyzed tarantula across the desert and into a hole (wild and creepy to watch tbh).

Love that museum. It’s a magical place.

Interestingly, Conrad is also said to have been a fighter pilot during WW2 though I've been unable to find out where he served and what he flew.
Conrad served as a fighter pilot in World War II. On the day he was commissioned in 1943 at Luke Field, he married June Nelson (1920–1977) of Los Angeles. He left the United States Army Air Corps with the rank of captain and as a producer-director of the Armed Forces Radio Service.

Luke Field was near Glendale, AZ.

Larry, you've been??? I don't remember discussing this before, are you in Tucson?

I love WA, but there are times I miss the Tucson desert. I drove up Mt. Lemmon a lot, and had some favorite spots to sit amongst the rock outcroppings and read. RE: ASDM, I mostly worked with raptors- Hawks and Owls mostly, but a peregrine, a black vulture as well (missing a wing and loved to sit in your lap while it ate I kid you not). And a number of mammals and reptiles and some insects as well. The IAC does a lot of animal rehabilitation via rescue. It's a worthy cause that is indeed part of a magical place.

I’ve been. It was great! I used to go to an archery tournament in Tucson called the Arizona Cup that was held on the shooting range of the PSE bow company there. This was back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I think they have moved the event to Phoenix now.

We visited the museum the day after the event, before driving on to College Station in Texas for the Texas Shootout…

That's awesome. Just a bit before my time, but I'm assuming they still did the Harris Hawk show back then? I worked with some of the Hawks that retired from that show, man they have a lot of personality.

Just because one American speaks nonsense does not mean that we all think/feel/say the same. Most of us love our neighbors to the North, and we think you are doing just fine up there as your own country. We truly don't need more states, in fact, may I suggest a few that we can sell to you at a real bargain price?

And thank you for Canadian bacon, which is what makes an Egg McMuffin the culinary treat that it is. 😉

Been there while on business trips and a few family vacations. It’s been a long while now. It’s a fantastic place.

Yeah, but "Canadian bacon" is just ham with a marketing team. I'd take real fatty, streaky, thin cut (American) bacon over that stuff any day😁

I assume they'll revoke my Canadian citizenship now.

No but they might force you to watch endless Ice Hockey until your brain has been reeducated 😀
