Thank you, I like that one too, in the auction it said the owner was the first owner, had it for 40+ years, serviced just once and stored it later on, but I think I got soft scammed, the condition is original, but the movement needs servicing, the day wheel is out of alignment and it runs abnormally fast

No regrets tho, as long as there's no polishing etc. - I'm happy

I'll look at mine when I get home, but as suggested in the thread, I'd not worry, ultimately the crown is one of the least important parts - but as far as the curiosity goes, yes it's curious, does your non-lume version have a whiter dial too?

movements are constantly repaired, replaced and serviced, they take the brunt of the effects of Father Time

I think the fact that the dial and case are in good condition mean you have won out, even if you were “soft scammed” as you say

That is, if you got it at a price you were comfortable with

Maybe it`s magnetized but a service is always the best idea after such a long time.

The classic "this was my fathers watch / this was my watch I didn't use" story sadly works on me - in this instance, I paid around 20% more than market value for a watch that should've been 15% below market value

Could be yeah, but it doesn't show up on Lepsi, and using the basic demagnetiser doesn't work either, however I've experienced the exact same thing on other Omega's from the same family too, so maybe it's internal magnetisation

    IMG_7147.jpg

Fun Observations just from these 3 watches:
    1) Even the non-lume version has a lighter/whiter dial and a darker/greyer dial variation (1) and (2)
    2) The darker grays don't even match in hues/darkness (2) and (3) - (3) is slightly lighter than (2)
    3) I have close to 10 non-lume ones, they seem to have thin crowns, while the lumed ones have thicker crowns - I haven't noticed it until now

Also a public thanks to @sirtaifun for my Grey Meister that appears on the bottom right corner of this photo :D

These are all beautful examples. I don't know the reason, but all the C-shape watches are under uppreciated.

They’re superb watches and they look great on a lot of people but for watchever reason whenever I’ve bought one, and I’ve had many in different combinations of bracelet bezel and reference, they sit on my wrist weirdly due to my wonky bone structure and never look as nice as they do on other people, like it sits up and proud with too much lug overhang on me instead of looking good like it does on @Wuza72. If it fits you they’re an excellent, durable case with some of Omega’s best movements at really affordable prices, also the Gerald Genta design is a cool factor too!

I think all Omega's are underappreciated yet I don't think C-Case's are that under appreciated within Omega's, on the contrary, more than half the time I think there's even over appreciation going on - It's super rare seeing a C-Case go below $400 - even when the condition is extremely bad, yet for other watches with same/similar movements, you can pretty regularly see ones that go under the radar around $200, sometimes in good condition. Overall it seems to me that they are almost 2X the value of equivalent Seamaster's

I think the reason is similar to Android v iPhone - so much segmentation on other models that it's common for them to go undervalued

Like you, I have issues with fit and bone structure (knobby wrist bone). The C-case fits me fine, it’s the speedy with its long slab case that hits me the wrong way.
Most people don’t think about fit when buying a watch- if it looks cool, they buy it. But there is a subconscious reason we grab one watch over another in the morning, and usually it has nothing to do style.

I’ve been keeping a look out for a nice 168.017 or 168.019 for a while now.

I was in the Omega Boutique in Regent Street, London recently and took the opportunity to do some research from their ‘A Journey Through Time’ book. I managed to snap a few pics of the C case pages. Hopefully they are of interest to you all..

I also tried on a nice one, but it was very overpriced!

    Thanks for sharing

And a not-fun fact from me, Ladies C-Case's cost 75% as much as regular sized ones, crazy, for other watches it's 5% to 40% - we're on Seamaster 120 territory - I wanted one just for the novelty but could never find a reasonable one, none of them are in good shape either, which is wholesome if you think about it, the watches had their time

Two JDM watches from me, one C-Cased Constellation and a C-Cased "Electrogolf" (They combined Electro and Golf, which I assume was popular at the time in Japan) - along with hard to find 20mm and 19mm Omega loops

    IMG_7217.jpg

There were too many conflicting information about these watches online, ultimately the Electrogolf one ended up being 20mm and the Constellation one ended up being 19mm - none of them are compatible with any bracelet I have laying around, if I was in charge of the design, I'd make both of them accept 518 size endlinks, would be nice to have them in the bracelet family - going to buy one of the grey 300Hz's at one point too, I suspect that one shares the same case with Electrogolf's

    My 1969 168.017 Constellation.

Still finding the right strap for this watch. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Nice pick up! I think that 168.017 is my favourite C-case model, but I’m biased because that’s the one I own.

A smart leather strap works well with these, but I also have mine on an aftermarket mesh bracelet from Geckota:

Looking good! I actually have a black lizard strap that came with the watch when I bought it. Maybe I just got tired of the conventional black strap.

Do you think an olive green watch strap would go well with my watch? Pic from Hoodinkee.

I like the colour - these things are a personal preference, of course. I have a nice one from Bulang & Sons which is quite smart:

Olive and gold usually work well together. Another color which works well with gold (and maybe only with gold :D) is turquoise. Perfect for Summer

I tried it for fun on my gold Century and I was very surprised by the result (I fortunatly took a pic before sending it for service)

    _DSC0271_DxO-1.jpg

I was also told Nato straps were working well on those. It creates an unexpected constrast between the military look of a nato vs the dressy look of the watch. Maybe an olive (leather) nato?
