I’m looking forward to this 😀. I came across the 14 disc box set on the street a while ago so last week I had a Beatlethon, listening to every track in order over three days, from the first LP to the last (even the German rarities, etc.).

It’s great hearing them on a decent system, as back in the day it was mostly AM radio or crappy record players at friends’ houses. Revolver in particular sounded awesome, what a great LP.

Brian Wilson's father Murray sold the publishing company (so to speak) in the mid-60s because he figured the Beach Boys were done and he wanted to cash out.

Unfortunately, there was a lot of this thing that went on for many decades until the artists said, enough of this crap!
You hear different stories but I believe Epstein had passed before the sale however he didn’t set up the best deal for his clients.I think It was around 1969 Epstein’s partner sold the catalogue freezing out the Beatles due to a bad relation ship. It was Northern Sings Ltd.at the time, Harrison wrote that song “it’s only a northern song” to express his displeasure in the deal.

I’ve seen a lot of rockumentaries and have been Ho-hum. I’m excited for this one.

The recent The Sparks Brothers documentary is the best one yet, in my view. It’s magnificent.

I cannot wait to see Get Back. With so many hours - years! - of footage to choose from, I suspect even the cut scenes are pure gold.

OMG currently listening to some of the tracks, banter and interviews this is pretty mindblowing stuff if you are a Beatle freak. I don’t have the video yet but all good things in all good time. These “rough drafts” are in many cases better than what was released on the album.

Paul McCartney Doesn’t Really Want to Stop the Show
Half a century after the Beatles broke up, he’s still correcting the record—and making new ones.

I know Ringo is a passionate photographer—anyone know if the Pentax in that shot was his, or a prop?

It falls into the water in the scene by the Thames, so I hope it was a prop or a dummy substituted for the scene.

Will be checking it out this week, really looking forward to it. Watched the trailer on D+ a few days ago and even just that was fantastic.

Very disappointed!! Watched the first hour and it was a lot of waffle and short clips of them performing/singing. I'm not sure I'm going to invest another 7 hours into the rest of it unless I'm really bored!

While I was at the Dylan show the other night they had a advertisement for Ringo (I’m assuming with the all star band) playing June 22nd. It didn’t list who is in the band this time but usually he puts together a good group. I think I’m gonna order some tickets early actually Ringo put out some decent material the last few years and he looks hella good for his age.
This Peter Jackson release is definitely gonna create another revival. I got access to some audio tracks of get back prior to its release. When my friend gave them to me it was early this month I thought it was all on the up and up turns out it was prior to the release but I was blown away with the audio and hearing the construct of songs.
I have seen Ringo and McCartney, Lennon was unfortunately taken away before I knew of the Beatles but I have the Time and Newsweek magazines from 1980 about his shooting and life.
I thought when Harrison did that tour in Japan he would make it a world tour and I would have a chance to see him but from what I read he just didn’t enjoy the touring scene anymore Clapton actually talked him into giving it a try.
I know this Get Back special won’t be for everyone but there are millions of Beatle fans who this series is bringing a lot of joy, that’s what it’s all about

Watched EP1&2 on a TV with no sound enhancement at my sister in law’s. Joining Disney+ so I can enjoy this on my surround gear. Its fantastic. Gonna start from the beginning. What you get is the creative process, the relationships and tensions between the guys, external forces pressuring them, and of course the concert. Highlight….Paul singing tabloid copy while John is doing some silly ditty….

Larry unfortunately the audio I have does not include additional songs on the rooftop. I’m hearing that is included in this series. Did you hear anything about that. I know it’s not until the last episode but the rooftop show really was something else seeing them together like that. Even with then ongoing tension and getting sick of living in a fishbowl when they made music not many bands come together like they did. They just knew each other’s style so well.

This precisely. And I’ll add that this doc is an almost absurdly generous gift to the world of music lovers. Highly recommended.
