Hallo Omegoids,

I had a bit of time on my hands this week, (child sitting over the school holidays), and decided to empty out all the various "other" boxes and drawers. The ones filled with odds and sods, interesting movements, nice dials, brand names long defunct and in some cases, almost erased from history. And a couple of omega movements that are yet to find a case. I also found an old cutlery box and converted it into a watch box with some foam so I could display these biscuit tin heroes. These are the ones that will come and go as I continue to sort the wheat from the chaff. Anyone else got something like this?

I've 2 watches like that. I've not been at this hobby long enough to amass anything significant. I'll post a picture later.

I think all of my watches would be classified as biscuit tin heroes. 😀

Umm I have to do something similar...
I was inspired to go out and score a 50s solid wood cutlery box today, which I think I can modify / rework to take 6 or 7 watches. I was very tempted by a 1922 "double decker" affair which was lovely but was going to need much more work.
Maybe "biscuit tin heroes" doesn't give these old stalwarts the dignity they deserve, though?

No ...I dove straight into the deep end with watches. I never had a "biscuit tin" phase. Perhaps I would have been better for it if I had.

This is my "biscuit box:"

The Juvenia's outer rim and one of the lugs is dangling, and it isn't running; however, I love the minimal lugs and the overall size.

The Orient was a recent pickup; the hour hand isn't properly aligned and the winding is pretty stiff. However it is in almost mint condition and the caseback shows almost no sign of wear.

The Certina's a bit iffy, with some mainspring issue...while the Omega is a 26.5 with a corroded case.

All project watches for sure 😀
