·When I was at the rifle range in the Marines, one of the instructors told us to do everything we could to set up the perfect shot. The wind, rifle zeroed, proper sight alignment and sight picture, slow steady squeeze of the trigger and when the shot rang out, You were done. No bringing that shot back. No retries for that shot. It was gone and there was no sense worrying about it. Evaluate the impact and do better on the next one, but nothing in the world was bringing that shot back. And if you missed the impact, well, better luck next shot. (None of this was said very gingerly and it has been edited to remove cursing.)
