Fun story about Abe Vigoda:

Actor Abe Vigoda (1921–2016) was famously the subject of multiple false death reports over several decades, starting in 1982 when Peoplemagazine incorrectly called him "the late". He embraced the running joke, even posing in a coffin holding the magazine, with the hoax becoming a long-running pop-culture gag.

Being of a certain vintage certainly helps.

The wild thing to me is that Abe was only in his mid-50’s when he started on Barney Miller.
