Hi everyone, I wondered if anyone could tell me about this watch. Not a make I'm really familiar with tbh. I think it has an ETA 2472 movement, so decent quality. I quite like the look of the watch, but no idea how to tell if it's fake, all original etc or if the asking price of £350 GBP is outrageous or not. Many thanks for any help you can give.

The watch itself looks decent from the pictures. I agree that it's probably got an ETA movement, as that is what Technos generally used in these 1970's models. I think the price at US$430 is pretty outrageous, even for the UK. I've seen similar Technos watches at well under $200.

Hands don't look right either. I don't know what is the deal with the bracelet.

If it is a real Rolex product (which I doubt), then that might justify the price.

Oh, right, of course. Jubilee, Rolex... doh. Yes, not likely to be a real Rolex bracelet as you say. Price looks horrendous compared to the example you sent through. Nah, not one for me I don't think. Thanks.

If you are patient, similar will come up for cheaper, I think. Don't quote me in this, but I think the bezels may be plated. I feel like I've seen several with brass or another metal showing through.

There was a thread that used to be very popular recommending bargain vintage watches ( https://omegaforums.net/threads/rec...tage-new-deals-on-ebay-other-auctions.113139/ ) and these used to to come up on a regular as popular good quality but relatively inexpensive. Look around and I'm sure you'll find a better example
If memory serves me right @Dsloan purchased a few and would be a good source of knowledge and may even have one he is willing to let go

Thanks! I did buy a bunch of technos this year (will post a pick in a sec) but do not happen to have a Star Chief unfortunately.

I'm not an expert on these, but in case it's helpful: I don't think that there's much of a market for Technos fakes out there, though there could be lots of frankenwatches lurking on eBay. They usually did have an ETA of some variety. I find the more basic models come up for auction very frequently in eBay and fetch $100-$200 most times. There are a couple of diver models that seem to go for $1K+.

For the Star Chief, I've never seen one with a red seconds hand come up on eBay. It could be a replacement part... Or it could just be a variation that I just haven't seen.

I have not found a good resource with lots of info on Technos. I'd be curious to know if anyone has found anything beyond basic info on the company.

Here's my pile of cheapo vintage fun:

FANTASTIC!!! I've seen the thread for Omega watches in ebay but didn't know there's one for non-Omega. That's brilliant, many thanks.
