Kids play, try going to Perth by train.
- Route: Sydney - Adelaide - Perth
- Duration: 3 nights in either direction
- Distance: 4352 kilometres
😉
I travelled with the Transiberian railway in 1984 from Moscow to Beijing - stopping every 500 meters. Just 4 stops sounds wonderful...
Everything/anything could be bought for USD. Everywhere along the line and on the train. I was young and naive though - I did not understand that until it was too late. Thought it was strange that everyone got what they wanted at the restaurant on the train except me. Rubles bought you borsjtj, vodka and pepsi. Dollars bought you caviar and such. Yes, I was young...
The Chinese knew about this and when we got into China they had their own restaurant attached to the train and what nice food they served! I have never ate such nice chinese food before or since. Everything on the menu was there - no need for dollars.
Drove from Sydney to Darwin 4600 km in a Toyota Yaris. Couldn't drive at all between 6pm to 6am due to Kangaroo,s and all. Never seen so much road kill in my life in some places.( if a tourist saw this they would think someone drove a 1000km with a machine gun out the window)
I remember from a 2007 trip to Australia (stayed in Perth) that no cars below a certain size, mass and engine capacity were allowed outside city limits due to large animals on the roads. Not sure if it was law or car rental policy though...
