Yes, that is a fascinating concept. Brilliant marketing, really. Thanks for sharing it here @Livesimply11

I voted in Round 1 and finished feeling like a bit of a curmudgeon: in 6 of the 8 match-ups, I voted for the least popular (to date) option.

I will be happy with whatever as long as it's max. 41mm and not in a compressor case (the ones with the chunkier lugs)

Actually ideally the new Autavia is an exact copy of the Deep Sea Chrono's case, but with a rotating bezel, if possible! I think I said somewhere right after I got it that it's basically the modern Autavia / straight-lug Speedmaster that TAG Heuer / Omega should have made

    This is the compressor-case Autavia:

The compressor-case style is actually currently in production with Sinn, so I believe we don't need another one:

Meanwhile, this is the earlier, screw-back case Autavia - the case style that I hope wins! Not necessarily this particular version, but anything in that case style. Notice the beautiful, more delicate lugs:

And then for the hell of it, here's my Deep Sea Chronograph

I hope it's not huge is all - even the good TAG Heuer designs lately are super-tall on the wrist, even if the diameter is right.

The Autavia turns 55 in 2017 - 2012 was its 50th anniversary and would have been perfect, but TAG Heuer management had no regard for its history then. I think Biver, Hublot-izer he is, recognizes the need for TAG Heuer to understand and celebrate its past - which is great!

I'm really excited to see what watch wins. I'd really like a 12 hour bezel and stick hands. The triangle shape hands would be a deal breaker. I hope we get just about any movement but another piggy back chrono. I already have a panda Speedy so I'm pulling for the black dial with white sub dials.

My votes were similar - usually on the losing side. I love the Autavias, but don't get how the compressor cases are spanking the screw backs in voting so far (and on the ablogtowatch early poll), the screw back cases have such great lugs and shape.

If Tag can restrain themselves in case diameter and hopefully use a really good manual wind caliber to reduce height, I think this could be winner.

I'm voting via 2 accounts / 2 browsers. I was on the winning side for all but the screw-back vs compressor contests

Long video but worth watching all the way through in the context of this thread and re. TAG Heuer recognizing its heritage:

The only problem is that the current Tag design team almost always gets the details wrong when trying to update the classic designs.
The CY2110 and Jack Heuer editions should have been great, but instead were completely lifeless. The only reissue that was a partial success was the CS3110, but that was released a generation ago and was a straight copy of a 2447.

Until they release the new Autavia I'll continue to be skeptical.

After watching the video @abrod520 posted, that is to be attributed to the poor leadership, according to JCB. Love him or hate him, the guy cracks me up and I appreciate his enthusiasm and passion. I also think it's hilarious when he cracks himself up throughout the video. Thanks for sharing that.

I blame Biver (perhaps wrongly?) for the Heuer-01 but I can't help thinking he'd be an awesome dude to chill with at a bar for an evening! Even more so that he's talking so much about Heuer's past. I'm optimistic about the Autavia and TAG Heuer now

agreed, I'm not wild about these huge skeletonized monsters, and I don't like the Hublot-esque influence, but you're right, having some drinks with him seems like it could get pretty rowdy.

Biver seems like the guy where one minute you're having a casual drink with him at the bar, and the next you're cheering on two girls jello wrestling. That's the evening I would like to picture.

And an enormous tuna-can watch on your wrist, that you strangely love!
