Been getting a the bug for a Monaco and currently looking at the 11 vs 12. Seems like you can pick up a pre-owned 12 in the $2500 range but used Cal 11 are few and far between. New models seem to be discounted at around $4500 (ugh)

Wish I could find a couple used examples to compare.

Do you think the Cal 11 justifies the cost? It's def closer to the original aesthetically. I sorta feel like if I get the 12 every time I look at the right hand crown and "TAG" on the dial I will be slightly disappointed. .... decisions decisions.

    oh and pics just because.

They're both fairly low-grade modular chronographs, but the Cal 12 is based on an ETA 2892 and the Cal 11 is based on a cheap Sellita. For $2500 I'd say the 11 would be worth it, and they'll probably get down there in a year or two. But given my experience with TAG I wouldn't be comfortable paying above 50% of retail.

Also - next year is the 50th anniversary of the Monaco, so it's widely expected that TAG will do something to recognize it - might be worth waiting a few months on to see if it's something more worthwhile than a Kickstarter-quality movement in a full-priced watch

Good point. 50th edition might drive down the price of the current 11/12 also
