but much more so because it is at least an elaborate attempt to avoid queues of flippers ending up having fights.
Good point ! And it is a good looking version imo - John Player Special comes to mind.
And when it breakes down you still have the Gold !

If it’s actually good looking and desirable, they’ll make it hard to get.

Like my wife.

It’s so sad that we won’t see any queue and chaos in front of the stores this time. What are the people, who spent 4 days in front of a store to be first in line for a plastic watch, going to do with their time now?

While it seems ridiculous at first, I think this is probably the best approach Swatch has come up with for these sorts of new releases. The open period to apply and the questionnaire at least mitigate website-camping bots and lazy flippers. If I'm right about that, we'll see evidence of it anecdotally in a high proportion of them going to actual enthusiasts and a very low quantity of immediate flips.

It almost makes me wonder if Swatch came up with this plan after some reflection about the overwhelmingly negative response to how the Royal Pop release went. It seems unusually well thought-out.

I can personally attest that it deters lazy collectors.

Got my application in, I think my answer that I had to sell the Speedy Pro as a reason why I want it might be self excluding since they ask if you'll sell it at the end but I can only hope. It reminds me a lot of my Apollo 8 Dark Side but with the gold adding a bit extra, and I'd been meaning to get a MoonSwatch for ages.

... a high proportion of them going to actual enthusiasts and a very low quantity of immediate flips.
Reduced secondary market supply leading to even better returns for the fewer successful scalpers/flippers and drawing even more into the 'business'.
Disney Lorcana cards are the new crazy that I'm being targeted with.

Good luck to anyone who applies

If I am not signing up for wait lists, I am damn sure not answering 33 questions to cross my fingers.

This gets a prize. The watch isn’t even released yet and they are already selling it.

Wondering what will be in the box for any naive buyer…

So I filled out the form. Some questions I had to look up, but learned some interesting facts in the process. Some questions were open ended.

I found the most interesting one was "why they asked 32 questions". Aside from perhaps a reference to the 321 movement I couldn't think of anything else factual, so I just put in something fun.

Despite my earlier comments, same for me. Had a spare evening on vacation and had some fun with it, looked up and learned space facts and how to calculate "beats" time.

Great marketing by Swatch (and omega) and makes the punters work for it. There were a pile of questions tied to Swatch history and other models (like the Queen Liz on with the changing outfits).

Do I expect to get one? Nah.

But if you don't weigh in, ya can't wrastle.

The question about the Queen's watch and outfits was truly a guess for me.

Couldn't find the answer online nor could I really work it out. Since they're not sold in stores anymore, couldnt even go in and check one.

I watched a few review videos and guessed at the combos because they change in gradients. Completely subjective as to what is an outfit (yes, already in my appeals materials).

I suspect failing the test after stating I believe the Moon landings were staged 😀

Yes so the Queen’s question was not trivial I thought. The website said it changes every day, but doesn’t mean it’s a different outfit everyday.

I watched a video of an unboxing, and tried to get to count when the initial color was back to the hat. Seemed 14 was the closest.

I had a look at the application a few days ago. The questions were nonsensical so I gave a bunch of daft answers. I think the last question I answered was wether I’d ever been involved in counterfeit activity. Couldn’t be arsed with the rest, so I just closed the page.

Had an email saying my application had been submitted, and I’ll be contacted should my entry be successful 🤔

Wondering now if it was a phishing exercise by Interpol 😂

I just went to see if they posted fine print for the submissions and they’re really just putting all submissions into a lottery. Can’t find anything on the website now that the submissions are closed.
