White Ranchero is one of my favorite watches I have, the one I wear most often and the one that gets most noticed by people, but I've always had the nagging feeling it couldn't be right. When I bought it I knew the 17M serial number was suspect, almost everyone says that Rancheros should be high 16M at most, someone said that low 17M could be ok but this was pushing it. But I really liked it and it looked great and correct so I got it and enjoyed it anyway.

A while ago I decided to finally find out the truth. Whatever the answer I would have continued to enjoy it, but I wanted to know.

Happy to report that it checks out, and I thought this could be useful information for others. Could this be the last Ranchero? I can even say it's military now ;)

    Great result! Congrats!

Wait – on reflection, I have some concerns about the authenticity of Monsieur Aeschliman's signature...

Do you think that's why it took two months to ship it after printing it, they had to practice the signature?

You have to love that! I really like the white Rancheros. If you ever decide to sell it. Dibs.

    :thumbsup:Great watch,and congrats!
the strap is hiding what I reckon to be "European Exchange System", which refers to what military watch specialists call "¨Post exchange" -- stores where service members can make private purchases.
So, not a military issued watch, might have belonged to someone in the military -- and pretty damn cool :) ....

Damn, you beat me to it -- Dibs too by the way! (but there may be several people in line already)

The two white dial I have both have late numbers 17563XXX and 17567XXX, have the extract on the 17567XXX and it dated 16/3 1960.

Dont know if the white dials were later than the black, but I have given up trying to figure out a system in the serials on the Ranchero's.

The OP has a cal. 268 (never seen a Ranchero with a 268) movement with a lower serial than my 17567XXX cal. 267 and dated later ???

I dont think there was much system in the Ranchero's back then :)

Interesting. I didn't know the extract was inconclusive. Well at this point I'm satisfied it is correct.

Somehow I missed this, but it's great news, as I was extremely confused about my one owner Seamaster I was gifted from my Grandfather, the watch that started it all.

It's a Seamaster but Extract came back as Ranchero......mystery solved
